“just a budget place...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2012

We booked the Junior Suite for four nights, which should be maybe better or bigger as a regular room (at least it was more expensive), but it wasn't...
We got a room upstairs, two single beds standing in a row and the room was completly different from the rooms we saw on the picutes at asiarooms.com (where we booked the hotel) or on the guesthouse website. The bathroom was very basic and the sink doesn't look like as you wanted to wash anything there. Beside that all was there a very strong and strange smell in the room - the reason: urinal cakes in the cupboard.
We ask for another room, but it was fully booked, so we went out of the guesthouse and were looking for another place to stay. Lucky the guesthouse is in the most touristy street in Yogya. There are serveral guesthouse and hotels, so easerly we found something better (even a bit more expensive, but worth). We paid first night and left the guesthouse. Our hoildays are to dear as I wanted to stay in that room for four nights!
Anyway, the guesthouse is quite good located and the staff was friendly. I would recommened the guesthouse for backpackers, which stays one or two nights... but in the Prawirotaman Street are many places to stay!!! Just walked in and have a look!

For this cheap price and the service you get here, can't get better ;) The staff are a bit too shy and that is sweet to some extent...they have a nice garden and if you want to get away from the buisy streets this is the place to choose. /L&J

I was looking for some quiet, clean accomodation for my 3 night stay in Jogja. After looking at a few places around Jl. Malioboro I tried KD. The staff were very accomodating with me as I wasn't sure how long I would be staying at the one location.

I had to change rooms twice but this was a result of me not booking ahead. The price was reduced slightly which was nice.

Location is good depending on what you will be doing but the street is easily accessible from main roads.

I would definitely stay here again. Clean and friendly accomodation. Great.

This really is a great place to stay. The daily changing breakfasts and afternoon teas are a huge plus (you may not always like whats on offer but its a great way to try new things). The staff are great and the place is super clean. The only downside for us was there's no sound proofing and with the rooms surrounding a courtyard when people get home or the staff get to work at 5 in the morning you hear it all. I think the room we were in (room 4 with shared bathroom) and the other room 7 would be the worst for this. Overall though great for the price.

We told the staff that we want to spend around 7 or 10 days at their place, we asked for a long stay discount and got it.

Everything went quite well, — except those couple of times when a rat came crawling on the roof of our room, I didn't mind it but it kind of spooked my friend, — until the 7th day of our stay (by the way, we were the longest staying customers.) The manager woke us up in the morning and told it's time to move out because some other people booked that room on tripadvisor. Needless to say, we were in a deep state of shock. They couldn't do anything but apologize. They also didn't even bother to move us to another room while it was still available on the day before. Unbelievable.

Never in my life I've seen such a low hospitality standard and inability to solve the problem before it comes and bites you in the ear.

Bottom line: they don't care about their walk-in customers at all — even though their money is just as good.
