“Great stay and affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Was here for a week with my family, June last year. The staffs were friendly and their service were good. Room was big enough for us and my kids enjoy the pool. Breakfast was average though. Good location. But the room and toilet need a makeover. I recommended this hotel to my good friend and he already book a room on coming September trip.

Stayed for 1 night before our flight out. The location is fine, within a few minutes walk to nice restaurants. The staff is friendly, gave us very early breakfast in our room before our morning flight. But towels and bed linen have seen better days. The woven cover of the long table is almost tattered. In fairness, the bed and pillows felt comfortable and we had a good night's sleep.

I stayed for three nights in Rumah Palagan. It was quite good stay for me and my family. The room is big and quite comfortable. But, it needs renovation as some parts of the ceiling worn out. The bathroom is clean but towels need to be replaced with new one. The food is average, except for breakfast. The pool is also good as my five-year-old son enjoyed it very much. The staff are very friendly.

Just stay here one night with friendly and helpful staffs with relaxing atmosphere. We can find many nearby local and international restaurants
Pros: relaxing, helpful and friendly staffs, king size bed provided in all rooms which is advantageous if you're with family (I've just ask for one extra bed for me, my husband and our lovely two kids)
Cons: We've got not so clean towels, and I agree that the room need of deep cleaning including the bathroom

Rumah Palagan is an interesting military-themed hotel in a quieter part of Yogyakarta. For Western travelers, the hotel is a pretty good value ... as long as you're not planning to spend much time in your hotel room.

Pros:

Great, friendly staff
Good food (non-breakfast)
Wifi works as promised
Air conditioning works as promised
Quiet location, but also near decent dining options
Open areas are clean, inviting, and relaxing

Cons:

Breakfast is very basic (rice, noodles, a soup, and a fried item + coffee & tea)
Rooms are tastelessly decorated and in need of deep cleaning + renovation

i stayed here for 2 nights with hubby and baby. it's a very nice guesthouse with swimming pool. positive: big and clean room, friendly staffs, good reservation, homey atmosphere, so many restaurants/cafes nearby (the guest house itself has its own restaurant), quite good food, private pool, very affordable price. negative: broken shower, fridge was not working. but definitely will come back to rumah palagan when travel to jogja!
