Queen's Tandoor has become a fast favourite as a lunch spot in Jakarta's business district - it is a short walk from the commercial buildings along Jalan Thamrin (it's in Permata Plaza) and offers delicious Indian-Indo fusion cuisine. The ambiance is suitable for business lunches and family meals alike.
There is a good variety of dishes at Queens and almost everything that we've tried has been excellent. Being vegetarian, our favourite Indonesian dishes include the mock chicken satay with smooth peanut sauce, eaten with a plate of spicy fried rice. From the Indian menu, we enjoy the gol gappas, papri chaat, mock chicken 65 and mock butter chicken. Be sure to emphasise that you're vegetarian and that you're ordering 'mock' meat - one waiter got our order wrong and served us real chicken. That was most disappointing, but the staff were so apologetic that we didn't hold it against them. Their variety of mocktails is decent, as is their selection of traditional Indian and Indonesian drinks.
