Rooms are tiny. Safe is practically on the floor. So you need to go on your hands & knees to put anything in the safe. Old people with back problems will definitely not be able to use the safe.

Hence, My parents left their Handphone in their soft luggage, locked, when they went out.

Unfortunately, there was a gap in between to remove small items from the bag if need to without opening lock.
When my Mothet reported to Front Office Manager Lady Ms. Okta that her handphone was stolen, Ms. Okta scolded my Mother & accused her of losing it herself. After my Mother insisted, they allowed my Parents to watch the CCTV footage.
After viewing CCTV, everyone saw that after House-keeping had made-up the room, a Hotel Staff gentleman entered their room for 7 minutes ALONE. Front Office Manager says that their Hotel Staff are ALLOWED to enter occupied guest rooms without guests present any time of the day ALONE, using the Grand Master Key. Apparently, they can also stay as long as they want in the Guest Room without any form of explanation.
When Parents insisted that a formal report be made, Front Office Manager says their GM is away on some trip to Shanghai, and they cannot do anything.

Situation is only going to get worse when such hotels have dishonest staff that goes around stealing from guests' luggage & hotel management covers up the whole case.
Our advise to everyone, given a chance, DO NOT stay in this Hotel.

Dear Eslina,

We understand from our guest records and duty manager that you were not staying with us and your review is on behalf of your parents.

After close discussion with our duty manager and head of security and with the housekeeping supervisor we can say with certainty that your parent’s cell phone was not taken from their locked bag.

As part of our rigorous human resources training, we ensure all staff, from our front desk receptionists to our cleaning room attendants and supervisors are polite and respectful of the privacy and security of our guests.

In regards to supervisors entering guest rooms: Indeed, our house keeping supervisors go from room to room and enter rooms that are unoccupied for quality control reasons only as part of their system checklists.

As the hotel is nearly 100% full year round and check out time and check in time are only two hours apart, cleaning is often performed quicker than we prefer on busy days therefore supervisors will check rooms to be sure housekeeping staff have completed their duties with the standards that we expect.

You will notice we do not reply to Trip Advisor comments as we find the platform can often be used unfairly with unvalidated and misleading reviews although your accusation is one of concern to our reputation as a safe and secure accommodation.

We don’t expect glowing reviews from each and every guest as there will always be room for improvement when it comes to service and hospitality but to be accused of theft is damaging and unjust.

We can only say that people lose their personal items when they travel. We are also glad to safeguard items in the lobby security box if guests prefer not to leave their valuables in their rooms.

We do of course read each review very carefully and make note of all comments big and small such as your parent’s observation regarding the in-room safety box located close to the floor.

We agree that this is not ideal and we are, I suppose, typical in that hotel design feature like so many other hotels. In fact we plan to, in all future Artotels, elevate in-room safes to a more ergonomic position.

In regards to our room sizes being “tiny” I am not sure this is fair to say having not stayed with us. When available we recommend couples stay in our Studio 25 and Studio 40 rooms.

We will contact you personally for further clarification

Best Regards
Daniel Sunu P

Found out about this hotel through TripAdvisor and felt in love with it at the first sight! Immediately cancelled my booking with the 1st hotel that I chose, and made a reservation with ARTOTEL through their website. Got a deal of Best Available Rate Rp740,000 per night for Studio 20 inclusive of breakfast for 2.

The hotel is simply awesome! Loving every single details of art that they offered. From the cool wall painting to the cute amenities that they offered. But I must say, the towels smell a little bit strange. Does not give a fresh smell. The i-Home available in each room is a plus! Can't stop blasting the music from my phone :)

Had our early dinner at the rooftop bar (BART). Nothing much on the view since it is not the tallest building in the city but a good place to chill and hangout. Ordered chicken cordon bleu and it was delicious!

Breakfast is good! Great selection of foods with egg station, bread & pastries, coffee & juices, fruits & yogurt - every basic things that you need to start your day! Staff at breakfast area were very attentive. The lady at the egg station even gave me a suggestion on where to shop in Jakarta. The manager took extra miles to engage with each guest on our feedback. Perhaps the taste of food can be improve a little bit.

Since our flight was at night, we managed to get a late-check out until 2pm. I think there should be at least 3 people standby at the reception counter to avoid guest from waiting too long. Anyhow, the overall staying experience was Excellent! Definitely worth the money!

Nice boutique hotel in the city centre of Jakarta. Very clean and cosy. Studio room is not that big, suitable for 2 adults. Although the room is not that big, but the bed was nice and perfect for relaxing after a long day in Jakarta. Location is perfect to me. Moving around using taxis were easy to/from the hotel (make sure you only go for Blue Bird or Silver Bird taxis; others might charge you without using the meter). Breakfast was nice with variety to choose from, the best for me was the 'sambal'. Super spicy if you are a cili padi fan. The rooftop bar was just a small bar with nothing much to offer and view, but do check it out as its just a press of a button away from the lift.

This was the 'splurge' at the end of our trip (at $60 USD per night :P) and it was a comfortable few nights prior to a 30hr journey back home with a couple of looong layovers. We stayed in a Studio 20 room and it was plenty comfortable for us. Hotel was clean and stylish. The selection at breakfast was awesome. Staff was super-friendly and helpful and the beds were comfortable. Location was in walking distance to the amenities of a couple large malls (normally not an attraction in my books, but we were frankly veggin out in Jakarta at the end of our trip). Loved the quirky custom messaging on the toiletries. Would recommend.

Great place to stay for its location (close to everything one might need from Jakarta) for the lovely staff and for their rates.

Rooms are ok, maybe the table in it is a bit too small though... but you can put all their gadgets on the floor and you finally have a space for your laptop.

The atmosphere in general is very pleasant. Great work for the rooftop bar! It's an amazing place for a drink or just for a sunset rest away from the bustling Jakarta
