“14 Months and Counting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

My family and I have lived in Aston Rasuna now for 14 months. Why are we here, location, apartment size (comparing to other apartments in Jakarta it is a good size with a high ceiling.

Pros
Excellent Service (this is where the excellent rating begins)
Security and House Keeping stand out for excellent service
Large apartment style rooms
Good size kitchen
Facilities to cook
Good for families
Location is good
Access to Facilities (2 swimming pools, shops, tennis, basketball)
Shares a common area with surrounding apartments
Internet access is fast and reliable
New Epicentrum Mall is in walking distance
Free parking is provided
Very good hotel for corporate guests (Marketing team does well to attend to individual needs)
(A special word has to be said for Farid and Aprillia in house keeping who are our Housing Keeping team a the moment - Excellent Service, thank you)
When we had a medical emergency (my wife went into labour) one early Monday morning the Security team were amazing. They saved the day and managed to get Mother, Father and soon to be son at that point to hospital.

-----------------------------

Deltas
Lifts - Be prepared to wait during the busy times of the day.
Plus house keeping has to use the guest lifts so they do get full, stopping at most floors
Getting a taxi can be difficult at peak times - Yet it can be seen they have employed more staff to get taxis for waiting guests.
Key Cards at times stop working
Little maintenance issues concerning air conditioning do occur (yet the Maintenance team does respond quickly and explains what they are doing to fix the situation)
Some walls in rooms are painted a sickly yellow (Small point yet for a long stay you do begin to question the choice)
Traffic in this area is getting worse.

I would highly recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a good size space with the added benefit of excellent service. Yet just be patient with the lifts.

Room Tip: Pick a lower floor to avoid excess time in the lift.

Am staying here for about one month now. Location and space are two major plusses of the hotel. Much activity (shops, restaurants and bars) on walking distance and also well located if you need to travel to other areas of Jakarta. The apartment rooms are large. Furniture is OK. It would certainly not be my choice for decoration, but it is fair to add that it is also not disturbing. It is no top end place and therefore you don't pay top end prices. Bath and shower are functional, but could need some improvement. Cabled internet in the room works well. Breakfast was not part of my package, but nearby shops are well assorted for making my own.

All staff - there is many - is very friendly and help you where they can. Not all goes perfect, but mostly needs are swiftly handled by housekeeping or any other staff. Taufam and Astrid do a good job of cleaning my room every day and of cheering my mood with their smiles. They deserve special credits.

Room Tip: if you want to use the balcony it would be best to avoid direct sun on it. The neighbouring mosque...

I wrote a review after an earlier stay here and am now here for twelve months with my husband. I have read some of the reviews and think the management need to point out some of the benefits for long-term renters. We have the deluxe suite where you have extras like two tvs and some extra furnishings included, and reasonably priced. The kitchen is fully equipped and we have only to ask and the helpful staff (Muhdor and Irwan, Hery and Rosie) respond quickly with what we need. They take care of everything, the cleaning, any maintenance problems, very quickly and well. The air conditioning (a basic need here in Jakarta) works well and they fix it quickly if for some reason it doesn't. The internet is excellent (especially for Jakarta). We like the southeast perspective to minimise afternoon sun. This place is one of the best locations in modern Jakarta, it is easy to get to Menteng, mega Kuningan, Senayan, Kemang on nearby public transport (which is quite humble) or by taxi (important as even though taxis are fairly cheap in Jakarta you can often be stuck in traffic for hours bumping up the price). There is a modern shopping complex, the Epicentrum, across the road, the supermarket delivers free to your door and there is a local vege market nearby. There are countless inexpensive restaurants very close, and the nearby Pasar Festival has good and cheap hairdressers and reflexology (foot massage). You can walk easily (eg in early morning for exercise) without falling into holes as the pathways are good and there is a nice river walk. It is near a hospital and the Australian Embassy. The Indonesian manager grew up in Australia so knows what visitors and long-term tenants like and expect, and he delivers it. We feel very at home here and have recommended it to friends who have been happy.

Room Tip: South east perspective to minimise effect of hot sun; lower floors for ease of access; mosque on sou...

Stayed at the Aston Rasuna during Jan 2012. I was traveling with my wife and 5 mth old baby and choose the hotel for its central location. The hotel is in a residential complex called Taman Rasuna. This complex consists of around 8 different middle class apartment towers and has a small office block with a few shops and restaurants.

Check in was smooth and we have booked via an online discount voucher site. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment, despite having only booked a standard room.

The hotel has plenty of taxi's outside (bluebird), a small mini-mart and access to two swimming pools. Please note that the pools are communal with the apartment buildings, and they were very busy and noisy. Also the hotel doesnt provide towels and you need to bring your own.

The room itself was basic, but fairly comfortable. It was very big compared to a usual hotel room, but it is not a "warm" feeling room and is fairly sterile. It has a living area with 2 seat sofa, a kitchen area with stove, a double bedroom and a single room. The bathroom was small and had no bathtub, just a shower with curtain.
There are no wifi facilities in the room, although it does have a cable internet connection with the usual high connection charges.

For me the worst thing about the hotel was the breakfast. Given that the hotel building was initially designed to be an apartment block, it has am unusual layout. Breakfast is on a mezzanine floor overlooking the small lobby. It is pretty depressing and the food was the worst breakfast i have had in any Jakarta hotel (see my other reviews for full list). selection consisted of deep fat fried crab sticks, fried potatoes, fried noodle, fried chicken, fish quiche (i think) and a selection of bread and cereals. I didnt go back for breakfast for the rest of my stay instead choosing to use the local restaurants nearby.
Also seating was an issue and there was a long queue to get a seat ....the staff were not clearing tables quickly and the seats were unable to be used by the other guests waiting to sit down. Also the tables are very close together, and this coupled with screaming children running around unattended made breakfast feel chaotic to say the least...not nice.

Oh...and yes, that mosque at 4 am is not fun.

Pros: Big room, Good central location, lots of taxi's, lots of nearby facilities and food stalls. friendly staff

Cons: Basic room, shared communal facilities with rundown apartment buildings, No Wifi, Lifts take ages to arrive (one lift of even floors, one for odd), Noisy Mosque next doot and nasty breakfast.

Overall: For the money you can get better hotels. In this price range you can stay in the Crown Plaza, Manhattan, Lumire (not good location), Novotel (again a bit far out), Kunnigan suites, Morrisey hotel, Millenium and for a little more you can get hotels such as Le Meridien. I have stayed in all these other hotels all of which are probably better value, despite the central location.
Would i stay again....maybe, if money was tight and if all other hotels listed above were full.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the front, which is further away from the noisy mosque, and try to get a lo...

I am here with my husband who has come on an official trip. I find this aptt. stay very comfortable. The location is good. The rooms are spacious .Kitchen has a lot of storage space but without any cooking utensils which is a must.

The aptt. staff is helpful & courteous .The house keeping people are to their job especially Taufan &Riska who are always smiling &punctual.

3rd time to Jakarta, decided to stay at the Aston Resuna, have to say the rooms are 1st class, very spacious, plenty of hanging space and cupboard space. Staff were pleasant and more than happy to assist where requested.
