“Massively disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

I asked the hotel where I might go to find really good local crafts and objects d'art. Not American luxury brands, not department stores, but the artsy thngs that locals make. They sent me to Sarina, and yikes -- never been so disappointed in all my life. This is a polyester heaven and a department store of Wallmart quality. Nothing artsy or drafter or lovely about this place. Yes, you can go to two floors of Batik goods, and another that had trinkets you can also get in the US at Cost Plus World market, or Pier One imports, likely for less. Wish I had stayed back at the hotel, gone to the spa, and then a cool dip in the pool. This shopping venture was just awful.

“Batik batik batik”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014 via mobile

It seems this place has majority of batik manufacturers in one place. If you love batik, you will be spoilt for choice. If you are hungry, don't worry sine there are eateries around such as McDonald's, KFC, Chili's, Dunkin Donuts and across the street are Pizza Hut,Starbucks and Burger King. The latter three are opened 24 hours.

“The Place for Batik”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

As the title says, this is the place for Batik. This is where I bought all my Batik-related souvenirs. They have 2 floors of Batik items, one for higher-end items and one for lower-end items. You can buy a bunch of items in under 500,000 rupiah.

Staff are very helpful and will assist you throughout the shopping experience. English speakers are limited so prepare some Indonesian words to use.

They have a foreign exchange counter, right across a bunch of ATM machines and a whole lot of food places around the building (first floor). The place is very near the Grand Indonesia Mall.

“overpriced but located conveniently”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

The location is central, just within walking distance to several hotels. It has department store, restos and grocery at the basement. The grocery is good to visit if you need to stock up on bottled mineral water, toiletries and fruits while staying in your hotel nearby. The pashminas and batik were amazing but a bit overpriced. I found the same pashmina I bought here half the price at a market far from my hotel. It might have been acceptable if the mark up is just 10 to 30 percent. But 50 percent is too much.

“Am I Missing Something?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

Ok, people said, "And of course you're close by, you'll go to Sarina." Why? Four or so floors of more polyester than you could imagine, then two floors of batik and cheap souvenirs. Some lovely batik, made up into dreadful clothing (note avoidance of the word 'style.') I'd love the Indonesians to do well with this art form, but, oh dear! Last time I was here was 30 years ago. Needs another 30.
