A great location, with the hotel connected to Plaza Indonesia with tons of shopping and eating joints. Hotel is sprawling and rooms are very spacious (all ensuite, with separate toilets, bath and dressing areas).

Lifts are somewhat slow though, and could take several minutes during office rush hours.

I've stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Jakarta several times and have always had an enjoyable experience from check in to check out

Qualified upgrades are swiftly provided without any posturing about the hotel being full and the check in process is quick and efficient

The rooms are large and well appointed. The work desk is very comfortable and the Internet service is excellent. Not as fast as Hong Kong but still remarkable. There are a variety of lights and its therefore possible to have the room bright for working or a bit dimmer for viewing a movie on the laptop

The bathrooms are bright with a good selection of amenities. Great water pressure and temperature

The food selection is slightly limited but the quality is very good. The buffet breakfast is worth the price

What stands out for me is the efficient service in every area and that's what keeps me going back to the Hyatt

This is not the best of the large hotels in Jakarta. Nothing specific to complain but quite impersonal. The Gym is probably the best I have seen, with superb equipment, tennis courts etc. Great addition if you are into exercising on vacation.

The spa and massage is ok, more like a sports thing than an indonesian spa.

My first choice would be Ritz Carlton, Jakarta (not RC, Pan Pacific) followed by Four Seasons for this city

This is my 3rd stay here. Excellent service (I order customized veggie dishes off menu and no problem), great ever changing buffet breakfast, excellent gym, large comfortable rooms and great location next to a mall - it all continues to be good! My big and perhaps only issues is: they have no environment-friendly policy. I asked cleaners not to change sheets and towels and it is clear that no training or provision for this has been made. It is 2009, our planet is in trouble, Indonesia's precious ecosystems are in peril, it is inexcusable if only from a PR/corporate social responsibility perspective, that this hotel has not gotten on the green train. Management: wake up!
