Security is taken very seriously at this hotel, the best I've seen. So if a safe and secure hotel in Jakarta is important you can't go past Mulia.
Lobby spacious and elegant. A beautiful aroma is vented into lobby via air-con providing tranquil atmosphere. All guest services can be found in reception area adjacent to lobby. Security personnel are plentiful in this area.
Lifts to all floors are accessed via room key to prevent unwanted visitors.
Rooms are spacious with large comfortable bed and lounge/chair. Large screen TV with numerous satellite channels. Tea/coffee making facilities however milk is powdered sachets. Bathrooms are very comfortable with large bath and separate shower.
Room service is uncomparable however it is hard to go past the enormous buffet breakfast at The Cafe which caters for every cuisine from Japanese/Asian to American/English breakfast treats. The Cafe also has a huge selection and variety of cuisines to pacify and tempt ones culinary delights.
The pool is great and at about 30m long it allows lap swimmers to do their thing while plenty of room at the side for loafers. HealthClub adjacent to pool is high standard.
Senayan Mall is 5 minutes taxi ride down the road. Footpaths are unsafe and unsuitable to attempt in this vicinity. Senayan Mall has good selection of shops and supermarkets/foodhall however a little on pricey side. Numerous other malls to consider e.g. Ambassador Mall for cheaper shopping for clothes and DVD's. Carrefor at basement of Mall.
There is a popular nightclub in hotel which can go off however the drinks are not cheap by any means. This is to be expected in a hotel of this standard.
My only issue with the hotel is that some parents allow their children to run up and down the corridors and upset guests. Phone call to hotel security usually puts a stop to that.

This hotel is impressive. They must have spent millions on the design and art, especially in the Cafe and Orient 8 restaurant. Rooms are spacious, with good views (it's not their fault about the smog). The two I've stayed in had large sofas and very comfortable beds. Great gym with good variety of new cardio equipment and weights. Beautiful breakfast buffet. Lovely pool with garden. Solid internet connection in the rooms and wireless in the public areas. Service throughout is very pleasant, pro-active, and responsive. The chocolate shop is unique, worth a look even if you don't eat sweets. You can walk down the street to the Plaza Senaya, which has a grocery store in the basement as well as a food court and many fancy boutiques. Security for vehicles coming in seems tight.

Cons: Business center services are expensive (US$25 for a flip chart per hour, for example). You'll get stuck in traffic - again, not the hotel's fault.

Made reservations per recommendation from a colleague who had previously stayed here, so I had no clue on its standards whatsoever. Thus it was such overwhelmingly positively surprised coming into the lobby area. Stunningly beautiful! The check-in/out staff were so friendly, professional and helpful.

Had some difficulties initially as I via email had ordered pick-up from the airport without confirmation back timely (per my definition) since I would arrive alone just before midnight from Guangzhou. Instead I got somebody else's booking confirmation, which made me disappointed, but everything worked out to to the best!

The Mulia hotel is a fantastic hotel! Even their webpage conveys a less luxury impression than reality. Fantastic service all over, super friendly staff, everyone are smiling and are genuinely eager to make your stay pleasant in a professional manner.

The gym is great, so is the pool area. The restaurants are top notch! Tried the breakfast hall for supper, the Italian (with chefs from Italy) and the Japanese. I really recommend to try out the Japanese buffet, it was one of the best meals I have had for ages. The breakfast hall has everything you need and more: many different juices, sushi, Chinese, the inter-continentals, pastries. Tried the pool area's lunch place. It takes awhile though to get the food (30 mins) since they fetch it from the main restaurant.

Had some issues with wifi, but the fixed connection was super fast. Impressed that the business center run split new Apple equipment! :)

Love the design and lightning. This is a hotel with ambitions and do live up to them! Very affordable rates! This is definitely the first hotel of choice in Jakarta, you will be satisfied!
