Excellent personnel, always asking you "is everything OK Sir" ! , the rooms are very clean, excellent view to the street, the shopping centers are not very far, you'll find cheap Taxis at the entrance of the Hotel, I enjoyed the Breakfast, you'll find all kind of foods there.

I used to live in Jakarta, and spent 2 years in the apartment complex next door, so I knew the hotel's F&B outlets pretty well, using them at least a couple of times a week.

Consequently, when we needed to go to Jakarta for a family wedding, plus a New Year party, and we saw PL for USD95 nett I thought why not?

The pluses? Room size, good. Bathroom is OK, although no separate shower. Very attentive and polite service - this is Indonesia so I would expect nothing less. Breakfast buffet was pretty reasonable, a fair selection without being stellar.

Some minuses though: the hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. It looks exactly the same as it did 7 years ago the last time I set foot inside it.

The room was surface clean, but not deep down clean - the carpet stained, the walls scuffed, the bathroom fixtures neglected. This is really not acceptable where staff are frankly the lowest cost in your P&L, you can have dozens of cleaning and maintenance staff, but if you don't have good supervision or standards, you will lose out. My wife, being Indonesian, got on the phone to housekeeping and fired off a volley or two and we came back to a shampooed carpet.

Another issue is that it is good value for locals, which in itself is no bad thing, but their kids are. Indonesians are utterly incapable of controlling their offspring, so if you find brats running amok (and I use the word advisedly knowing its etymology full well) in the restaurant and public areas acceptable, then fine. I don't!

Overall, the room was OK, a reasonable price. The F&B outside the included breakfast was of a fair quality but not cheap, so be warned.

Would I return? Not sure - depends on what other offers might be out there.

I just came back from a business trip in Asia. I've stayed in many, many hotels and I have to say this has got to be the dirtiest place I've ever stayed at. This is the first time trip advisor let me down. I read the reviews, thought it sounded great and booked through hotel.ca. The hotel has the bones of a 5 star, but the level of cleanliness reduced it down to a 2 star for me. My room was disgusting, hair (not mine) on the bedside tables, glasses in the bathroom that had numerous lip stains on it (gross), dirtly carpets, dusty furniture, filthy shower/bathroom, the pool was gross (crap floating around), the buffet chefs had filthy rags they were wiping their hands on. I stayed the night and left first thing the next morning and went to the Intercontinental, which wasn't that much more $ but was a world of difference in standards. The manager at the Park Lane, was very apologetic and explained that they were having problems with the pool (so why have guest swim in it?), he agreed that the room was unacceptable. They paid for my cab to the Intercontinental. When I returned home I got an e-mail from the Park Lane Manager saying that they have hired someone to do room checks and that the pool issue has been fixed. So maybe, you'll be luckier than I was.

I wrote to hotels.ca to get a reimbursement for the remaining days I had prepaid for at the Park Lane. I was impressed, they also reimbursed me for the first nite, which I didn't ask for nor was I expecting. Personally, I'd stay at the Intercontinental if I were booking a trip to Jakarta.

Come back from a four night stay at the park lane Jakarta hotel. Overall it was a pleasant stay, the staff are attentive. There are taxi’s outside the hotel day and night.
The hotel location and the dated rooms are what let the hotel down.

Location – the hotel is not centrally located and you need a taxi to go virtually anywhere. Saying that Jakarta is not really a city where you walk but traffic is crazy! It will take about 20-30 mins to get to the central business district.
It is close to the Ambassador mall which has some food outlets and local shops. There is not much public transport in Jakarta but taxis are cheap.

Rooms – the rooms need updating however, they are clean and spacious.

Restaurant – the food is of a good standard but quiet expensive for Jakarta as you can dine out in a mall for half the price.

Gym and Pool – the gym and pool are great, clean and up to date. There are some on-site personal trainers and classes e.g. yoga.

Staff – very polite and attentive. They will help with anything you want, tours, restaurant bookings, recommendations.

Business Centre – you have to pay to use the PC’s and the internet speed can be slow.

The staff recommended a tour to Ansol and Bandung via an trusted agent. Great day out and reasonably priced. Picked us up and dropped us of at the hotel and the transport was in a nice air conditioned 4x4.

The hotel is very good value for money, Jakarta is not a walking city so the need to take a taxi will occur by default. Would stay at the park lane again.

Stayed there 5-6 times during business trips.

The hotel is amazing in every aspect. Rooms are big, well equipped and clean, pool is clean, all food related services (Breakfast, restaurant, room service, etc) are excellent and serve great and tasty food (Although a bit expensive). Staff is extremly friendly and helpful, the hotel is well secured.

The hotel has a good club (Stix) with a good live band 6 nights a week, and the nearby Puri Casablanca (Accessed directy through the hotel) has a supermarket, and some cheaper food places if you don't want to eat at the hotel's restaurant.

Location is good but not as central as it can be, but taxis are cheap and anyway no one walks around by foot in Jakarta anyway.

I highly recomment it as a much cheaper and not less good option to the usual giants like the Intercon or Marriot.

  • Disliked — Not as luxurious as the Marriot or Intercon.
