Le Meridien (Jakarta) was a famous 5-star hotel in early 90s back then.
Since several years ago, it's Le Rendezvous Lounge it's one of my favorite places to stop by for a while on Friday nights, to enjoy live music and beverages.
It's a good located hotel (Sudirman mainstreet, near to many major corporate buildings).
However, I learned from my corporate travel agent, that Le Meridien is no longer ranked at 5-star, but has been downgraded to a 4-star hotel.
Well, as I feel that the service in the lounge is good, I tried to stay here when I had an opportunity in late August 2009.
No complaint for the reception desk. There's no problem, quick service for both check-in and check-out.
The room is not really spacious, but it's not crowded as well. Toilet amenities are good, but as other reviewer said, you must ask for dental kits here.
For breakfast, I can say that the food selections are not as various as Intercontinental Hotel (where I stayed there few weeks before). It's confirming other reviewer who said the breakfast is uninspiring, that's correct!
After breakfast, I returned to my room. Suddenly at approximately 10:30 am, there was a knock in my door, saying from the Room Fitting. I said to wait for a moment (twice), while I was wearing my clothes. But without my permission, the Room Fitting has opened my door!! I was so upset, as I wasn't ready. Well, the Room Fitting still hold the door half-opened, but it's impolite for a hotel staff to open guest door without permission.
Finally I fully-opened the door, and the Room Fitting staff (middle-aged woman) said that she's checking the room without any word of apologize, she stepped inside and glanced here and there in my room for less than 5 seconds then left.
Considering the above, uninspiring breakfast, and of disruption of privacy, I'd rather to spend a little more (IDR 100 thousand or so) to stay at Intercontinental Hotel nearby, and have a much better service there.
