The Meridien Dakar and Ouagadougou were already quite disappointing but the Meridien Jakarta was I hope my very last expreience with this group.
Hotel that might have been great 15 years ago, but that is now ageing, smelly and dirty. Stained sheets with some yellow substance, dirty towels, air conditionning spreading mold all over the room, room extremely noisy facing a highway, restaurant with no real separation between smoking and non smoking section leading obvisously to a smoky dinner or breakfast.
Of course it is cheaper, but the quality of the Mulia Hotel (that I recommend) really justifies the price difference.

Well I have stayed many times in Jakarta and I know most Hotels. I booked me in on last minute as we weren't sure what to do next days. I did not expect much and I was right. The hotel is dated at all and is far beyond any other 4-5 star property in Jakarta. You do receive better value in 4 star Alila Hotel, which is kind of basic, but solid!
Our room was dated as the whole hotel, but comes with a flat screen TV. Bathroom was awful. Internet access is about 7 euros per 24 hours but the connection wasn't stable. Room service was fairly quick, but not that tasty. The buffet breakfast is ok, but nothing to talk about. The night club "tiga puluh" is a pricey brothel with life music. Its more for older solo travelers seeking some entertainment.
The Hotel at all is not my cup of tea and I would not stay there again!

I have stayed in Jakarta for 2 nights after a week in Bali. As I came from Europe (20h flight) I thought that it is worth it to visit Jakarta also. I was wrong. It is the dirtiest city I have ever been to. There is nothing to visit, do, etc there. So if you have no business, try to avoid it.

The hotel is good, with quite big rooms and very good service. However, it is not close to the city center (or old harbor) and the traffic in Jakarta is awuful (it once took me 2 hours to get from the hotel to the center by taxi).

First, if you are an International Traveller and travelling to Indonesia, always book your hotel on arrival at the airport at some of the hotel counters and the best rates are usually from Kaha Travels. However, better to avoid credit card, as it gets penalized by 3%.
Having Chosen Le Meridian, you can expect a good hotel, small lobby, friendly staff, and rooms are medium sized. The rooms are however, impecabble , large TV and good upholstery.
Bathrooms are big and quite nice.
Breakfast is ok, though lacks the intenrational cuisine assortment.
Location is in CBD, so most Malls and other business areas are easily accessible.
Has a Lebanese restaurent, but can be best described as ok.
Overall Ok small sized Boutize Hotel grade.

Le Meridien (Jakarta) was a famous 5-star hotel in early 90s back then.
Since several years ago, it's Le Rendezvous Lounge it's one of my favorite places to stop by for a while on Friday nights, to enjoy live music and beverages.
It's a good located hotel (Sudirman mainstreet, near to many major corporate buildings).

However, I learned from my corporate travel agent, that Le Meridien is no longer ranked at 5-star, but has been downgraded to a 4-star hotel.
Well, as I feel that the service in the lounge is good, I tried to stay here when I had an opportunity in late August 2009.

No complaint for the reception desk. There's no problem, quick service for both check-in and check-out.
The room is not really spacious, but it's not crowded as well. Toilet amenities are good, but as other reviewer said, you must ask for dental kits here.

For breakfast, I can say that the food selections are not as various as Intercontinental Hotel (where I stayed there few weeks before). It's confirming other reviewer who said the breakfast is uninspiring, that's correct!

After breakfast, I returned to my room. Suddenly at approximately 10:30 am, there was a knock in my door, saying from the Room Fitting. I said to wait for a moment (twice), while I was wearing my clothes. But without my permission, the Room Fitting has opened my door!! I was so upset, as I wasn't ready. Well, the Room Fitting still hold the door half-opened, but it's impolite for a hotel staff to open guest door without permission.
Finally I fully-opened the door, and the Room Fitting staff (middle-aged woman) said that she's checking the room without any word of apologize, she stepped inside and glanced here and there in my room for less than 5 seconds then left.

Considering the above, uninspiring breakfast, and of disruption of privacy, I'd rather to spend a little more (IDR 100 thousand or so) to stay at Intercontinental Hotel nearby, and have a much better service there.
