Stayed here on my first night in Jakarta and availed the promo rate during the Accor sale. I arrived in CGK at past midnight and checked-in around 1:30AM. When I entered the hotel, there was no one in the front desk except the janitor and guard in the lobby. I asked the janitor to call the person in the front desk but I was told to just wait. Perhaps a language barrier happened here.
After 10 mins of waiting and calling, a staff finally went out and processed my check-in. Took about 15 mins or so to finish everything. In consolation for my late arrival, the staff told me that I can check-out late at 1:00PM instead of the usual 12PM which I think is good service.
The double room was big and spacious! It showed some age but still a good room. However, the toilet and shower is small relative to the whole size of the room. Could have been better if the toilet and shower is expanded a bit. The room has the usual amenities: LCD TV, A/C, coffee and tea and complimentary water. It has a long desk placed near a huge window.
The double bed is not too soft nor hard. But the pilllows and linens could be improved. They are not immaculately white... looks like the fabric has not been laundered well. I hope this could be addressed by the home keeping unit. Overall, the room for me was enough to give me a good rest after the late arrival.
However, this hotel could have been better if it is located somewhere else. The location of this hotel is less to be desired especially when you are arriving late. Though it is near the bargain center, the area is very dark at night.
An unfortunate event happened to me on my way to the hotel from the airport. Just as we turn left from a big mall in mangga dua, my bluebird taxi was pulled over by two policemen in complete uniform and a police car. I thought that the driver committed a traffic violation. But after talking to the driver, they turned their attention to me. They asked for my passport and another ID and interrogated me about my travel plans which even the immigration officer in CGK didn't bother to ask. They even checked the contents of my bag. We stayed in the dark road for about 30 mins! And I have no idea what's happening. In the end, their real intention showed: they wanted to extort money from me! Good thing I remembered the local word for help and I told them that I need to call my embassy for help as I don't have cash for them. At that point, they returned my passport and ID and let my taxi go. Sad 1st night!
