“Laid Back Luxury”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2009

The Lobby is not that beautiful, but the rest of the Hotel does maintain a certain touch of Luxury. Ensure that you get a Premier Room at a price of Deluxe, as Deluxe rooms are only uptill 5 th floor and the size is questionable. Usual marketing gimmick of Hotels.
Rooms are nice and well maintained, The lifts to the room are quite painful as the system is anitquated, nevertheless, I was told that they are organizing to install a new system.
'Bathrooms are well laid out.
Breakfast is quite good and the hotel is sensible enough to add cuisines from China, India, Japan, Continental on the buffet.
Fitness Centre is Nice.
Location is odd, but anyway most hotels in Jakarta have an odd location, so does not matter.
Connected to a Mall , which helps browsing the local fancies.

It's my first experience staying at Intercontinental.
However, I have been very familiar with this hotel and visiting it quite so often (mostly seminars, wedding party, and occassionally visit the lobby lounge enjoying the drinks).
The hotel is located in the main business area of Jakarta, but located uniquely a bit secluded (shielded by other buildings) from the mainstreet.

Last mid-August, I'd like to know how does it feel to stay at Intercontinental.
I made reservation by phone, and they quickly sent the confirmation thru my email.
When I arrived, the receptionist processed my check-in very quickly, good service from the conscierge too.

The room itself is not very spacious, yet sufficient. Quiet, clean, with modern-minimalist design. The Bed are comfortable. There's a bath-tub in the bathroom, and toilet amenities are complete.

Breakfast is also a good experience. Mixed of Indonesian (local), Chinese, Japanese, Continental, and American breakfast are available. There are also option for non-koresh foods. Maybe the juice selections can be made even better by providing apple juice as well? (no big deal indeed).

Check-out process is also quick.

Overall a satisfying experience staying in this hotel.

am glad that you appear to have enjoyed your stay overall. It is true that our hotel is located in a slightly quiet area, although many customers choose us specifically for that reason. We would like to point out that while our immediate vicinity is quiet our hotel still enjoys a very central location in Jakarta with convenient access to the major commercial centre and within easy reach of some of the bigger shopping malls. Additionally we are immediately next door to Citywalk, a newly opened complex that includes a significant number of restaurants and bars. Our hotel also features a number of Food and Beverage outlets including Scusa, one of the best known Italian restaurants in Jakarta and immediately adjacent to us is the MidPlaza complex which also includes a selection of restaurants.

Once again that you for your feedback and we hope that you will visit us again in the future.

I stayed here twice for business. It is really good and cannot compare with Crowze Plaza (even same group!) and of course Sunlake!
How good it is? Let's check it out!
1. Room - Very clean & comfortable!
2. Staff - Very courtesy & can remember my name, my request...etc. Willing to help & you can feel they do care about you!
3. Restaurants - Good quality on breakfast. But the Italian restaurant is a bit pricy. If you like Chinese food, recommend you go to the mall next to the hotel called Ah Yat Abalone.
4. Spa - Good staff again & good therapist in reasonable price
5. Convience - Good connection to the mall (not shopping mall) which provided a conviences stores & more restaurants!

Only one thing I need to complaint is the location! It is horrible traffic jam caused I cannot go out have a look of Jakarta when I have some free time!

I and my wife stayed for two nights at this Intercontinental property while visiting Jakarta.
I must say it was a pleasant and enjoyable stay. From check-in to check-out the staff was always courteous and nice. We had a high floor room, and we were upgraded to deluze room for free. The room was very new and clean, the bed was comfortable and the LCD 42" tv nice!
The bathroom was big and new, with a lot of amenities including slippers and bathrobe. All in all, standard 5 stars fare.
The 2nd floor swimming pool is located in a small landscaped garden with a nice and relaxing view over the neighboring skyscrapers. The spa offered quite cheap pool-side massages, and even though we didn't take advantage of the service, a lot of people did and they seemed very happy with that! :)
The buffet breakfast was great, with a large selection of Indonesian, western and Japanese food. If you cannot live without pork bacon and sausages, you'll be glad to know that you can find them here, a first to me in a Muslim country!
On the basement floor, there's also a cheap minimarket and other shops and restaurants, but we strongly suggest to go to City Loft for dinner or a relaxing night out, as that place is located only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.
The only downside of the hotel is that you cannot really walk to the major attractions in town, but being Bluebird taxis readily and extensively available and very cheap (you ill hardly pay more than 2 dollars to go anywhere in town!) that's a minor problem.
All in all, a very satisfying hotel, even though I would probably choose the Four Seasons or the Grand Hyatt (best located hotel in town) next time.

P.S.
- If you go to Jakarta, please go to the Batavia Cafe'! It's an amazing place!!

I felt this Hotel represented the Intercontinental brand quite well. Room rates were very reasonable compared with other 5 star brands in Jakarta (at the time). Everything was nice and clean and staff professional with qood dining and Spa options. It is located on the main thoroughfare through the CBD area but due to one way traffic lanes, this does not necessarily mean anything in Jakarta !

If you want to go to the other side, you might spend 15 - 20 minutes getting around there in a car. One funny about this thoroughfare - between 4 and 7pm, private cars requires 3 or more passengers or you get fined by the Police; the solution is that there are people standing by strategic points on the roadside willing to act as your "jockey" to sit in your car whilst you drive through the thoroughfare - for a small fee.

The hotel staff are very courteous and friendly and hotel is beautiful. The location is good however there is not very much within walking distance, but I think the same could be true for just about any hotel in Jakarta. Security is excellent.

Our room was large and very clean, comfortable and we had a great view of the city. Room service was excellent and very fast.

The hotel gym is well equipped with both weight training and cardio equipment and is quite spacious. The pool is also very nice and welcoming after a hot day in a pollution ridden and very busy city. The spa is beautiful and both massages I had were very good.

The neighbourhood seemed safe at all hours but the sidewalks are rough or non-existent and there is alot of traffic to contend with. People on the streets are very friendly and will help you find what you need if it is in the area. Taking taxis anywhere is long and tedious due to the very busy and congested streets.
