“Dirty room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

We read the Lonely planet and decide to stay for 2 nights in the alinda hotel. The prices where higher than written and all the computers didn't work.

The room was really dirty, mold on the wall in the bathroom and next to the closet. The wall in the bathroom looks yellow instead of white. The towels has yellow spots. Finally the room was very dusty even in the bathroom.

Because it was late we stayed there for one night. Happy to leave the hotel.

Like a number of places, good reviews at first have led to hotel to neglecting to upkeep the rooms. Toilet is dirty, hot water is not hot, shower head sprays all over, and they don't bother with giving you the towel and toilet paper. Good point is it is away from the road so it is quiet. Other hotels within 100m with same price and better facilities, and even breakfast included - I moved into ond tgd next day.

We stayed for 5 nights at Alibda Hotel. It's in jalan Jaksa, which had a lot of hostels and restaurant. A good neighbourhood! There are a lot of taxies, becak, bikes deining throw the street, so you can go everywhere. If you want to walk, that's also possible, but you need to know the way. The train is nearby, so that very pleasant!

The room with fan (165.000rp) is on the 4th floor. There only stairs, so it's a good exsersice. The room is big, a twinbed, fan, bathroom with hot shower and Western toilet.
Because it's on The 4th floor there are not that much mosqitoos. Maybe we had there in 5 days time!

This is yet another cheap hotel located off a cross to Jalan Jaksa, which is accessible either from Gondangdia (stones throw) or Gambir (walk-able) metro stops. They have two types of double rooms - with AC or with Fan. The one without a fan was 160k Rip and the one with AC was around 210 Rip. They don't have a lift, and my non-ac room was on the 4th floor. There are no single rooms. It seemed to be slightly cheaper than the hotels like Margot next door. And of course the hostels are much cheaper.

The room itself is decent, clean, no issues. Not cramped, had a window. The wifi was not operational when I was there (april 2012), but there is an internet cafe in the Wisma hotel next door and the Sate Khas Senayan (restaurant) nearby will allow you to use their wifi (their Ox tail soup is awesome !)

The staff are friendly and you get a complementary breakfast which could be a toast and eggs or nasi something with tea/coffee. You may need to ask for toiletries.

Only problem with it would probably be the location - Jalan jaksa is not all that of a happening place, except that on saturdays there's a lot of noise with all the pubs playing old indonesian hits and probably some street music. But once you are done with the watering holes in jalan jaksa, you need transport to get you anywhere interesting. Though, if you just want to relax, then jalan jaksa is pretty decent. The locals are friendly, and everything is cool in JJ.
