As a veterinarian I only work with small animals, but have a healthy respect for horses and the difficulty of medical upkeep and staff. I tend to be fairly picky about anything "touristy" I do with animals. The staff was friendly and wanted the ride to be good and did take lots of pictures. The ride itself was beautiful. The fields and beach were perfect.
But the horses were skittish, and had to be led by staff. One horse almost threw one rider, two different times. Much of the ride is along a road, and the people of Bali have minimal experience with horses and were honking, riding far too close, and even setting off firecrackers near them. The horses also have some sort of skin condidition, which the owners appear to working on with their vet, but nothing was mentioned to other riders about proper hygiene (or even walking behind the horses), or washing of hands after the ride. Since some fungi and mites can be contagious to people this should have been mentioned for the safety of everyone.
I wouldn't not recommend this activity, but I think that too much assumption was made about the general knowledge of safety around horses are made.
