This hotel is located in a charming and safe residential area. It is a relatively small hotel built around a leafy courtyard and pleasant pool. It has a few communal sitting areas and a small internal cafe (for guests only) with a limited but fine menu, suitable for jaffles, satay, fried rice or noodles, if you can't be bothered venturing out. The rooms are old but very nice and well-furnished. The hotel staff are all fantastic - always happy, smiling, friendly and willing to help with anything (I reckon they are some of the best I experienced in Indonesia).
Restaurants are 5-10 minutes walk away through various alleys and the beach is only a few minutes walk away. The hotel is very near the airport and although it's in South Kuta, it's quite a distance from the Poppies Lane area of Kuta. The hotel is a little bit out of the way, but it has a very homely feel and is in a welcoming neighborhood, not far from everything. At $90 per night for four people, it represents great value compared to other options around.
We booked 2 deluxe rooms for our family of four for the first three nights and were ecstatic with the size and furnishing of the rooms, including an inter-connecting hallway past the wardrobes. We then switched to our pre-booked Family Apartment, which I personally liked a little less (due to the inefficient use of space), but others would probably like more, because it was huge and includes a kitchen. It had sleeping quarters upsatiars (2 bedrooms, bathroom and a sitting area) and living quarters downstairs (big kitchen, bathroom and sitting area). The bed mattress quality in the deluxe rooms and the family apartment was excellent and rooms were cleaned each day.
The only minor criticism I would have of the hotel is that the breakfast varied each day - which was a good thing - but some days you were offered a choice of toast or noodles, which for westerners basically means you are offered only toast. Tea / coffee is provided but any other drinks are extra. You can still order a banana pancake or something else on these days, but you have to pay extra for it and same for drinks, such as juice. But overall, a great value hotel (alternatives in Bali are surprisingly expensive), fantastic staff and I would come here again.
