Rooms were clean and decently sized and staff was very polite and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was good, with numerous Western and Chinese options available for selection. I'm sure it is difficult to find a better quality hotel in Lhasa.
However, in general, it was a somewhat impersonal hotel. Maybe because we arrived as the first tourists of the season and a great deal of work was still being done to get ready for the high season? We also experienced the inconsistency with heating and A/C. Some rooms were cold and could not be warmed up while others were warm and could not be cooled down.
One final nit-pick is the hotel location. There is definitely no opportunity to walk around downtown starting at this hotel. And taking a cab in Lhasa should be avoided as the driver will continually pick up and drop off riders causing your ride to take 45-60 minutes rather than the 10-15 minutes it should take.
