We had momo and pizza, the food was really good! The place is nicely decorated like a palace :) this place is not easy to find, with the assistance of their friendly staff, we were led by them to find our way back to hotel after we had finished our dinner around 10.30pm...

“Drinks on the Roof, Overlooking the Himalayas - Lovely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2011

My wife and I had a delightful evening at the House of Shambhala. It is a small hotel with restaurant and rooftop seating. We had had enough "tour group" and decided to set out on our own for the evening. This place was recommended by our hotel, so we paid it a visit.

We drank Tibetan beer on the roof, looking out at the Himalayas, which was wonderful. There was a Tibetan party on the rooftop next door and we enjoyed their music and mahjong game, as well. Very traditional and authentic. After the sun went down, we decided to stay and ate at their restaurant. The menu is Tibetan and very extensive. The food was good, not great, but the atmosphere was wonderful, prices were low and the service was attentive, so I would definitely recommend a visit. The clientele was very international, too; mostly European.

Three Dog Night once asked "How does your light shine, on the road to Shambala?" I know the answer: pretty darned good. Visit it and do not miss the roof.
