“Plum Blossoms nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

We visited during the Plum Blossom Festival midweek, it was a clear sunny day and the flowers were lovely. It was quite busy but it didn't create much of a problem because of the space available. Take own food and drink as the quality available to purchase is not great quality. Overall a nice day spent at Purple mountain, recommend to visit in Nanjing.

“An amazing green oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Purple Mountain and various temples and tombs on it are definitely worth a day exploring, especially if you have decent weather. There is a tourist bus/train that takes you between the three main clusters for a minimal charge. Take a taxi to the first site, bus around and then taxi home. All pretty easy. The paths that we explored were not steep - but we did not head to the top. It looked like the cable car was open seats rather than an enclosed cabin and we did not fancy that with young children. The aquarium is also here but did not do that either. The weather was wonderful and we had a full day exploring the Ming tombs and Ling gu temple and breathing in the fresh tasting air...

“Nice place to visit if you are tired of the city, but still too crowdy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Overall it is nice place to visit - green and easy to reach from the city center. But as you are not the only one who want to visit it - beware of the crowds in the area. It is nice to go up the mountain - the higher you go the less people it shall be - so if you are after some walking - nice idea climbe to the summit top!

YOu need walking shoe as the roads not always paved.

Overall nice place, still missing the lonliness you need sometimes in China.

“Pretty, but overrun”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The mountain ha s three quite interesting attractions on it and is quite a pretty natural hill. The tombs and the temple are pretty good and the mountain is definitely worth visiting while in Nanjing.

The main problem, as you would expect, is that it is totally overrun with tourists. There is never a minute of quiet time and taking photos is a game of trying to get the shot quickly before people walk into your picture. Nice, but don't expect peace and quiet.

“Beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The perfect place to get away from the hussle of the city and stroll through wide forests. The mausoleums and temples are impressive and give you a beautiful insight in Chinese culture and history. The view from the pagoda is also worth climbing the stairs to the top.
