“Disappointing visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

There used to be an entrance fee to the mausoleum. Once inside the hall, there's a smaller chamber where Dr Sun Yat Sen's body lie under a marble sarcophagus. However now, the mausoleum is open to public for free, the management decides to close the smaller chamber.

Once inside, you are only restricted to the sacrificial hall which takes less than a minute to walk around. Plus the guards won't let us take pictures.

POut of the way but definitely worth seeing. Located in big parkland which was attractive and well tended.

“Keep climbing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Although there is not so much at the top the views are stunning and the 390 steps worth the work. Be sure to visit when the sun is out. There is much more in the park but we visited the mausoleum only.

“A Father's Honour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

This is one of my most respected personalities in history. The father of modern China, the pioneer of republicanism and democracy in China, and the man from whom both the CCP and KMT derive their legacy. If there is one reason why I came to Nanjing, it is for this. As an overseas Chinese, having heard so much about him in school, at home and online, I was very pleased to be able to visit this memorial.

“Needed more time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

We definitely needed more time in this area. First of all, the walk just to get to the base of the mausoleum is fair, then making your way up the many stairs. The walk to the mausoleum starts with a pleasant stroll through the woods. In Autumn, when the leaves are changing color, this is a particularly nice walk. The stairs to the mausoleum are numerous, but we took our time. The stairs seemed to get more and more narrow the further up you get so go for the railing. There are beautiful views from the top so plan to spend some time there too.
