Of all the places I visited in Nanjing, this was, to my surprise, the best of the lot. I arrived early in the morning so there weren't too many tourists there, and I found the place to be very relaxing, and steeped in history. You can walk the same corridors of power that were trodden by Chinese political luminaries such as Sun Yat-Sen and Chiang Kai shek, and look into the same meeting rooms where they held fort all those years ago. Outside each room is an explanation of what the room was used for, along with a photograph taken when the rooms were being used by these same people. Walking around the place really does make it easy to imagine the atmosphere during those turbulent times in the first half of the 20th century.
An ideal way to spend a couple of hours and escape the heat and the hordes outside.
