“Nice rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2009

This is a high end hotel for a Holiday Inn. The rooms are modern and large enough. The breakfast buffet was excellent but not cheap. Breakfast for two was equal to 50% of the room rate. Internet at 15rmb per hour is not cheap either. The location is not bad and it is close to the pedestrian area. One drawback is that there a usually no taxis waiting there and we were left to our own to go to the street to get one. Service is ok but nothing special. The best features are the quality of the rooms and the food.

Impressed by the reviews on TA I chose to stay here for one night during a business trip to Nanjing. The main attraction for me was that it was located in the Aqua City complex which the latest shopping mall in Nanjing - an open air shopping and eating complex with a cinema too that is delightfully designed around flowing water. The hotel is connected to the shops through a door in the lobby and on the 5th floor which is very convenient so I was very satisfied with being able to have close access to the shopping complex.
Gym was fine, newish and could easily get crowded but good. Breakfast in the 5th floor restaurant was fine, nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about either.
King size bed room was good, nicely decorated and the bathroom was huge and clean. Service was good - I asked for an iron and ironing board and it was delivered promptly. All in all a good stay and would recommend to anyone.

This is a beautiful hotel that is very clean but the customer service was awful. I booked through Hotels.com for 3 nights with breakfast included. The Hotel refused to acknowledge my confirmation email and made me pay again for breakfast. I spent a good proportion of my stay trying to resolve the issue but the Hotel were very stubborn. Hotels.com even contacted them on my behalf and they still did not budge. I am home 6 weeks now and still awaiting an agreed refund on the breakfasts that I had to pay for twice! The staff were most unhelpful during my stay and very condescending. The whole experience was most upsetting. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone - especially if booking through Hotels.com as there is clearly a difference of opinion regarding room rates.

Stayed here for a weekend at a reasonable 525 yuan per night. From the Nanjing train station take metro line 1 to Sanshanjie station (a quick seven stops away), then it is a short walk two blocks east along JianKang Road. The hotel is connected to Nanjing Aqua City (http://www.aquacity-nj.com/en) which was completed in August 2008 - a bustling, albeit soul-less, open-air shopping complex comprised of mainly foreign brand stores (Sephora, H&M, Costa Coffee, McDonald's, Starbucks, etc.). From the hotel it is only a short walk to the Confucius Temple (Fuzimiao) - which houses the largest statue of Confucius in China, and to the Qin Huai river. The surrounding area is great for wandering and getting a sense of the local culture.

Overall, the Holiday Inn did not disappoint, but there remains room for improvement in terms of customer service. On the plus side, it has excellent pool and fitness facilities. The beds are quite comfortable and have a variety of pillows to suit every preference. I especially appreciated the cozy cotton waffle robes and slippers. The breakfast had a good variety of options, although the buffet was over-staffed with servers so eager to do something that the food at our table would disappear before we could eat it.

Of the things I didn't like, the front desk staff at times had quite an unprofessional demeanor, and when I asked a member of the desk staff a simple question - "what time is check-out", I got directed to someone else amidst much confusion. Also, I booked a deluxe room, but there wasn't anything especially "deluxe" about it - the square footage was quite small for a deluxe room. Internet in the room is not included and is quite pricey. Instead I used the wireless at the nearby Starbucks.

A good hotel overall - well decorated and so new that it still has the new carpet smell. But not really up to scratch in terms of international standards of customer service.

We visited this hotel in the hot hot hot summer but had a great time at this hotel for two nights. It has a great location with lots of shops and businesses within walking distance. Very comfortable beds, good food, good service.

Great Hotel! The rooms are so nice. High speed internet, flat screen TV, very clean and new. Breakfast was huge. Staff was nice. Location was good. Best part – The beds. The mattress and the sheets were so soft. The pillows were perfect and they even had a note saying you could contact the front desk for a different firmness. Pool was great. We got wonderful Chinese massages for Y90 (special price). Wish I was back there.
