“Very Unhappy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We actually stayed here two years ago as a part of our adoption trip (I'm writing this review now, because someone tried to book this hotel for us again). The hotel was booked for us, and we were assured that it was an excellent hotel. Firstly it's quite an old hotel, used a lot by the adoption agencies, the lobby looks beautiful, but the rooms are hit or miss. We were told that the hotel was mid-upgrade, and there were some rooms that had been recently renovated and some that had not.

We got put in one of the rooms that had not been renovated. We were told it was a suite, but was essentially a single, what I would class as, medium room with a dining table and a desk and bed, all of the furniture was old. Like other reviewers, when we asked if we could use the air-conditioning, we were told that it was turned off at this time of year (October) and we should open a window or we could have a fan.

The room next to us was occupied an unknown guy, who had his friends/collegaues over almost every night until 3 or 4 am, along with lady friends (use your imagination to fill in the blanks) and smoked constantly and the non-working AC made a great conduit for funneling smoke into our room, causing our daughter to cough constantly and be unable to sleep. We complained several times, but nothing was done.

I've been an international business traveller for over 15 years, and I've stayed in some interesting places, but this was, by far the worst hotel experience of my life, bar none!

Room Tip: I've been told they have some very good rooms, try to see your room first before committing to i...

We stayed in this hotel as part of a Travelsphere tour for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location was slap bang in the centre of Nanjing, around 300 yards from the Confucious Temple opposite which you can get an ice-cold beer for £1.50. The massive reception area boasts a fish pond and a piano, the restaurant served up good and varied breakfasts.

All in all, a good hotel, certainly 4 star.

This was a great hotel, it could of been five star all the way, except for the renovations outside our window, but I guess they have to keep up the appearance of the hotel.
The rooms were very spacious and a good sized bathroom with everything in it, combs, razors, toothbrushes, etc, the water pressure was good. The room itself had a decent size bed, a bit on the firm side, but comfortable, they had tea making facilities and a safe.
The staff at the reception desk were very helpful and the doormen were always there to greet you with a big smile and a welcome.
Breakfast was very lavish, catering for all nationalities.
The location was central to Confucius Markets and shops, with lots of good restaurants.
We could only get wifi in the lobby, but at least we got and it was free,
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Booked triple room and I think they gave us a bigger room which was really spacious. Room was clean, though the decor and furniture looked tired. There's wifi connectivity as well.
The hotel is right beside Fuzimiao and near Nanjing Aqua City. Both places offer plenty of food and shopping options.

The location of this hotel is excellent. Lots going on around the hotel, shopping centre, night market and Halloween celebrations. Rather a hard bed but a comfortable room. Free wifi in the bedroom. Nice bar with good cocktails.

We stayed here with Travelsphere ‘Discover China’ at the start of October 2012.
As reported by others, this is in a great location for the main shopping area – out of the hotel and turn left and then right. Lots of market stalls up the side streets and some interesting local people making toffee shapes etc. It was heaving when we were there but well worth the walk out.
The hotel is fine. We didn’t eat there in the evening and this was our food respite from Chinese. In the vicinity of the hotel is KFC, McDonalds etc. and if you walk out of the front to the main road and turn left there is a modern shopping centre about three minutes walk away, with a pizza/pasta place and one or two other eateries. Along this road on the same side as the hotel is a mini-market for beer and drinks etc.
Breakfast was decent. The rooms were clean and tidy, internet access was free in the room and reception and cleanliness was again high. We enjoyed our stay here.
