We went out to Lan Kwai Fong and decided to have dinner. I knew that LKF might not be the culinary oasis in Hongkong, but we decided to try something there.
We thought that a restaurant surviving in the first floor with a hidden entrance in LKF must be a good one. When we enter the restaurant with only two other guests, I knew that this feast will end in tears.
Our waitress was super nice and polite, and quite frankly only because of her we did not have the heart to walk out. We ended up ordering mandarin chicken and crispy coconut prawns as starter. The prawns were OK, but the chicken thing was just awful. The pieces of chicken contained bones and gristles, so that I could not really enjoy the meal as I was going through the chicken. Now that I think about it, I really don't know why - I should have just returned it to the kitchen.
Red snapper fillet and squid and prawn salad were the main courses. These were OK, but not great.
I really don't understand how the restaurant can cope in a fairly high cost location with such a terrible food offering. The staff is very nice, and I really feel sorry for them as they would deserve a better chef.
