“Very good but not great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

I have to admit, my favorite buffet in Kowloon is the Shangri La. But, the Harbourside at the InterContinental is very good. It had a wide assortment, a delicious combination of hot and cold foods, a healthy mix of cuisines, and a blow your mind and diet dessert offering. I wish the room were larger. We ate with friends on a Fri night. It was packed and, because the room is fairly narrow, there wasn't enough room for lines on both sides - big mistake. So, very good food, good service, expect crowds to slow things down on busy nights, and a high cost given the crowd buzz and atmospherics.

“Buffet must be better than a la carte”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

While staying at the Intercontinental Hong Kong, we went downstairs to Harbourside Restaurant at 5:30 pm. The late lunch crowd had left, so we had a table by the windows. We can’t eat enough to justify having a buffet for two, so we shared a la carte orders. Our lobster bisque was the least tasty that we have ever had (and we have had a lot), but it contained a lot of lobster meat. The wild mushroom truffle soup was large and very tasty with just a hint of truffle. The surf and turf steak was tender but not very tasty, and the grilled prawn was good. We had a vanilla crème Brule that was both tasty and large with strawberries that seemed especially delicious. As we finished, diners lined up for the seafood buffet and then brought heaping plates of seafood to their tables. We left the restaurant while the buffet queue was still quite long. My wife’s ginger snap was a very refreshing drink. It took some time for the dessert to come, perhaps because of a change of shifts in the kitchen. While we recommend the view, the crème Brule and the mushroom truffle soup, overall we felt the a la carte meal was only an average value considering the price, and we assume that the high value of the Harbourside Restaurant must be for the gourmands who stood in line for the seafood buffet.

“For the seafood lovers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The buffet dinner at InterContinental is definately for the seafood lovers. With more than enough lobster, bugs, king size prawns, fish and crabs to keep you happy. The dessert selection is excellent with more than you could possibly want. With amazing views over to Hong Kong island, this is a great place to spend an evening eating excess. It's big with lots of people so wouldn't recommend it for a romantic night out but great for the family.

“Amazing View; More Amazing Food!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

We ordered a la carte for dinner. It was exceptional. The ginger skewered chicken was amazingly succulent, the best I have had recently.
I had the panzerotti with mushroom sauce also super. The bread selection was amazing as well. Great views of the Hong Kong skyline. A great evening!

“Best "fish and chips" in my life"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

I was so pleased with this dish! The fish was so fresh - as if just caught AND fried perfectly so crisp and not soggy as are many I see.
