“Swimming in February”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

You can walk along the boardwalk from Repulse Bay to Deep Water Bay, the sights along the way are very scenic, and usually something is going on. The water was warm, and walking along the beach felt great.

“Less crowded than Repulse Bay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Deep Water Bay is a lot less crowded than the bigger Repulse Bay beach. Deep Water bay beach is free and contains a swimming area that is "fenced off." You can bring your own BBQ items to barbeque in the pits next to the beach. There is also a members only golf course in the area which serves good chinese and western food.

“Lovely spot to escape to.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

This is the first beachside place to stop on the route from Hong Kong to Stanley. We caught the bus and hopped off at the bus stop closest to the beach. Had lunch in the upstairs 'take away' Thai restaurant (Coco Thai)sitting looking out over the bay. Food was delicious and setting very peaceful. There is a lovely walk from here around to Repulse Bay, on a dedicated pathway, which offers stunning views over the bays. We then caught the bus on to Stanley before heading back to Hong Kong. A lovely way to spend an afternoon - just wish we had taken our bathers for a refreshing swim.

“Great beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012 via mobile

Nice escape from busy city, beautiful clean, safe beach. About an hour by public transport from kowloon. Free Bbq pits, so bring charcoal and supplies and make a day of it.

“Very close to Ocean Park and Discovery Bay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2011

Deep Water Bay is one of the few places on Hong Kong with accessible beach fronts so at least it offers some swimming opportunities and a chance to spend some time in the sun. The beach area is right off the main load linking the main part of Hong Kong to Aberdeen on the south side of the island. We actually prefer the beach area near Stanley as well as Discovery Bay beach area and don't visit this place much.

You can reach Deep Water Bay by using bus route number 6 or 6A, which you can board at Exchange Square. These are the same bus routes that can take you to Stanley, Aberdeen and Ocean Park, all better attractions than what Deep Water Bay has to offer for visitors to Hong Kong.
