“Adventure in the New Territories”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We found it a bit tricky when we got to Sheung Long MTR station but a helpful local put us on track. We also found the visitor centre shut (Monday). Navigation required a bit of effort in places although we noticed a number of signs in strategic places which did help. The buildings looked interesting and we were encouraged to take a closer look at the ancestral halls. Maybe we could have got more out of the visit if the visitor centre had been open.

“Great walk to see historic Hong Kong”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

This was a great excursion. I was initially disappointed as I imagined that this would be out in the country. It is, in fact, in the middle of the city. It was definitely worth it though. The signage was good and the buildings along the trail were very interesting. Some have been restored and have a lot of information. The museum at the end was great. The walking was relatively flat and easy. Everything along the trail, including the museum were free.

“The other side of Hong Kong”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Forget the sky scrapers in the city. Go out to the New Territories & experience the life of indigenous people of Hong Kong. Walled villages still exist. Walk along this trail, one can see original houses built in the 19th century & a few from the 18th century. These houses include residential houses of the clans, study halls, which were similar to modern day schools, ancestor temples & pagodas. This place is easily accessible, about 30 mins from the city centre of Kowloon.

“This is the real Hong Kong - brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

This trip was one of the best days of our holiday - to catch the train out and walk around an original village and find original old buildings beautifully restored and all within 1km. A very gentle walk literally each house, school, temple, pagoda is no more than 100 yards from each other, and in the middle of a small town. So much to look at and explore and well kept. It doesn't seem to be well advertised - but it really is worth the visit.

“Glad we did this!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Make sure and get one of the trail guides. We walked it "backwards" because of where we had come from. Don't miss the history center. Afterwards we went to a great little brass place that turned out to be huge... Fund day with nice history.
