“Free entrance and a nice place to escape the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

You don't have to pay an entrance fee, but you don't get it for free. It was quite a walk/climb to this park and on this hot day I was very happy with the drinking fountains in the park. It is a nice place to see flowers, monkeys, birds, and other kind of animals.

“Nice place to relax”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

This a very nice place to spend some relaxing time in downtown Hong Kong. There is no fee and has a large area to wander viewing birds and animals. Also, there is a nice fountain in the gardens, which is a very nice area to sit and enjoy some of the day. Although I would not necessarily seek out this place, I would not discourage anyone from doing just that. Generally, a nice spot.

“Average, not bad for free”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

We stumbled across the gardens and zoo en route back from The Peak. Yes it's free and as such the range of animals is limited to birds and monkeys. It is a nice walk and the gardens are good and well maintained. Glad we didn't go out of our way to find it though as not that good.

“Beautiful place and free to enter!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

A highly enjoyable half day out and completly suprised it's ALL free. Seeing all the different animals is great and they have decent enclosures (a great welcome compared to other animal enclosures around China).

“The small garden was nice with labels, the zoo was not impressive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

On a hot day in August this zoo was really stifling with little wind due to dense foliage. The zoo part of the park was not impressive. Yes there are a number of monkeys, but no they are not in enclosures that lead to natural activity. And the info provided is minimal. The aviaries were difficult to see into due to the type of wire mesh used. The garden around the fountain was nicely done with lots of plant examples and labels and educational info.
