“A nice, quiet hotel in bustling Causeway Bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

This is a nice, quiet hotel in bustling Causeway Bay. It has a nice, clean, classic European architecture. It's very conveniently located where it's very easy to get a taxi, the Causeway Bay MTR station is just a couple of minutes away, restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, shopping centers are just around the area. By taxi, the Hong Kong Convention Centre is only about 5 minutes away.

The room I stayed at is spacious by Hong Kong standards, with a small living room space, an office desk, a flat screen TV that swivels 180 degrees so that you can view it from the bed or from the living room space, a kitchenette, and there is still space to walk around. The bathroom is pretty small though, in proportion to the size of the room. The furnitures and fixtures are basic but functional. The room was very bright because one side of the room was all glass and you get a lot of sunlight. This, of course, can be controlled with drapes.

There are no food and beverage outlets in this hotel. They just have a makeshift breakfast room where they serve breakfast and I think that is also where they serve their wine & cheese cocktail late afternoon. But this isn't a problem for me as restaurants and cafés are abundant in the area. I could not comment on the food as breakfast didn't come with my room.

The staff were very helpful and courteous.

On my first day here, there was a small cockroach on the door where the trash bin is located under the kitchenette. I killed it with my slippers and that was the end of it. I am sure that this is just a one-off incident as the hotel is very clean and very well maintained.

I would say that this is a great place to stay at if you have to attend a convention at the Hong Kong Convention Centre.

This hotel doesn't have a driveway per se and we arrived during a demonstration of Indonesian house maids next door, but once inside the hotel is an oasis of calm and precision. Make sure you have good instructions from the hotel to give your cab driver. It's located in the bustling Causeway Bay area making it very convenient to the MTR, restaurants, shopping areas nearby. Our room was very nice - like a small apartment with three rooms, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen/living room. Very compact but perfectly good for the two of us. Nice views of the mountains and surrounding cityscape. Nice bar on the 1st floor (near the reception). Excellent deal of paying a fixed fee per evening and drink as much as you want from the selection on display. Very good value if you are wanting a few drinks and an evening in the hotel. I'd recommend gladly.

The rooms, while small by general standards, are just right by HK standards. The room was neat, the breakfast was good, the location was ideal. But what deserves special mention is the service. The staff was very helpful right from the person helping you with your luggage, to the receptionist, to the concierge services, to the staff in the restaurant. Would definitely go there again

Really great hotel - can't really fault it. The room (Deluxe King) has comfortable for family of 3. A single bed was set up in the living area (for an additional fee). Decent kitchenette (microwave, fridge, cook top) making self-catering easy for child with food allergies.

Great location - 5 minutes’ walk to Times Square, Sogo etc for shopping and very close to the tram line. Pretty decent food in the immediate neigbourhood - including the Din Tai Fung (always a favourite).

Service was friendly, efficient and suitably understated.

Great Place and Location, rooms are of excellent size considering you are in HK, one thing lacking was a properly filled minibar, there is a complimentary basket with some items but a well stocked minibar is essential in a place like that.

Other than than no issues whatsoever, highly recommendable and will stay here again

Room Tip: I had a corner room which was great

First time staying in this hotel as was booked by a colleague and didn't pin much hope as been to HK several times and hotels are small and nothing much in the hotel.

I was surprised when I checked in the room as the room was very clean and nice. The staffs at the concierge was friendly too and they have a few persons there to assist you.

Nearby the hotel sees 2 7-11 which is extremely convenient if you need to get something.

Only setback was the soundproofing esp during the night time when the next door comes back or goes out, the door will slam hard. You can even hear people talking. Other than this, all others went well. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs a clean and quiet hotel.

Thumbs up

If you can handle snug accommodation (even by Hong Kong standards) and a commodious bathroom that has no privacy at all you will love Lanson Place. The service is absolutely extraordinary especially those guys at the concierge desk for whom nothing was a problem. After checking in the receptionists too were pretty special. We did try to change rooms but a larger room cost AUD100/night - we declined this less than generous offer. Nearly forgot - the breakfasts. Aah the Lanson breakfast! Despite being served rather oddly in a lounge with armchairs the breakfasts were exceptional. Take note of the first two qualifications and you will befriend the Lanson.

Room Tip: Save your money until you can afford a bigger room.
