“It's Disney!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2010

Our stay here at Disney's Hollywood Hotel included exactly what you'd expect from this corporation - cleanliness, efficency and attention to detail.
We arrived (2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 3) at around 11pm and were checked in without any issues - fantastic! Our room was spacious (by Hong Kong standards) and included complementary bottled water that was replaced daily. There was a safe in our room along with a refridgerator.
We had pre-paid for breakfast and this made it easy each morning after late nights for the kids. Food was plentiful, many cuisines were represented (Japanese, Chinese, Indian, American and Continental) and was of a high standard. The staff were wonderful (taking our youngest by the hand and seating him first) and the kids were given melamine Mickey and Minnie cups, bowels and cutlery to use.
Room had the option of being cleaned daily or, if preferred, when requested. This was also done to a high standard and they even left a message on our room's phone one day to inform us of extra cleaning that had been undertaken.
The "Malibu Toy Shop" is a playroom for children (an adult is required to supervise) which has staff on hand to entertain the kids. They drew Disney characters, played at being "cooks" in the kitchen, played games, read books and also interacted with Goofy, Chip and Dale. The staff here were great interacting with the kids.
There are two other places where you can dine apart from Chef Mickey (buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner) and these are the Studio Lounge (bar that serves pizzas, chicken wings etc. and shows movies such as "Cars" for the kids while the adults can have a drink!) and the American style Diner which was self-serve and had free internet access.
Location is fantastic if you are visiting the Theme Park (shuttle bus every few minutes) but quite a distance from Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, although very easy to reach via the MTR.
Overall, if you have young children and are wanting to visit Disneyland then this is a magical hotel in which to stay.

Hi
We travelled on the new year eve weekend and I must admit that the whole trip was magical. We drew in to the hotel around 12 noon and was suprised to see the hotel lobby filled with kids and adults admist a flurry of activity. Had kids watching tv in one corner of the lobby, had a souvirour store as you enter the hotel. Our checkin was smooth and the service was great. The hotel agreed for a early check as compared to their regular time of 3.00 p.m, managed to get this done by upgrading my room by paying 200HKD. The room was spaious and had 2 queen sized beds, it overlooked the disneyland resort so we were told to enjoy the fire works at 9.00 pm from the room and switiching the relevant channel on our tv. (The channel has the music and the commentry relevant to the fire work. I could see the glee on my sons face when we entered the room and that was an assurance that everything was in order and to his liking. The buffet breakfast served has a wide variety to choose from and as usual attention to detail was noticeable. I should comment on the staff who would always were genuine to help you and had a smile.

Stayed here for 2 nights and took the Stay and Play offer whereby you have access to the park for 2 days for the price of 1 ticket, well worth taking advantage of. Room was plenty large enough for family of four and definitely bigger than rooms in most Hong Kong hotels. Nicelty equipped with dressing gowns, slippers etc. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Two gripes. One, check in is supposed to be at 3pm and so we left our luggage at the hotel and went off to the park. Arrived back at 4.30 to be told the room was just being checked and would we mind waiting. 3pm is a late check in time to start with and I don't expect to arrive an hour and a half after that and still have to wait. The other gripe is the exorbitant price of food and drinks. I know that Disney has a captive market so I expect to pay over the odds but even so I thought it was excessive. Suggest you take some drinks and snacks for the kids with you and keep in the fridge in the room. Still a good choice and worth staying right next to the park for the convenience if you are travelling with children. If it was just my husband and I then we would definitely have preferred to stay outside the park, or possibly at the other Disney hotel.

Hollywood hotel is really an excellent hotel to stay at especially if you have kids. All of the staff/hotel personnel are very warm and hospitable. Being clean is expected and of and course they get an A+ on this category. They also have lots of amenities for kids like play room, pool, garden etc. Disney characters also have a surprise visit every now and then. If we have not paid for the theme park, we can settle just staying in the hotel for one whole day.

Before coming to the hotel i have checked tripadvisor for the reviews. Some reviews have negative sides but its all wrong. The hotel looks new, it just have an old fashoined theme. Goofy is at the lobby when we checked-in. The room is nice though small. Such a magical feeling... truly Disney spirit is here. Though we are all grown ups we really enjoyed our stay.

We travelled via ferry coming from Macau, we arrived around 6pm, Goofy was in the lobby. My kids suddenly transformed to "smiling at the camera kids". We were very excited. We availed of the stay and play tickets weher we get 1 free ticket for next day. So we readily checked-in and took the free bus to Disneyalnd and spent the rest of the day in the theme park. the kids were really ecstatic. as if they are not yet tired. unlike when we were in Macau FIsherman's Wharf . going back to the hotel, we notice all the small details even the cute toiletries, the bathrobe for kids and even small slippers. the room is definitely larger than normal Hongkong Hotel rooms. Next time we go there will try the other DIsney Hotel

What amazes me about this hotel is how despite rampaging kids it still looks new and clean - indeed it looks almost new. The rooms are nice if a little small but this is Disneyland and there is no need to linger long as there are many things to do in the hotel.
Service is good and of course they are very kid friendly so the little ones can charge around at will.
If there is any negative it would be around catering ; you basically have to eat in one of the hotels' establishments and these are a bit limited and somewhat pricy. There is no convinience store nearby so it is worth stocking up on snacks and drinks before you come here. Saying that though the buffet is pretty good and the dinner costs less than 200HKD at the current discounted price.
It is worth considering buying an annual disney pass as this gives 35% room discount plus some other benefits - that will cut the price of an offpeak night to around 900 HKD a night which is very reasonable. Also staying in the hotel gives you a 2 for 1 ticket offer which means plenty of time to go to all the rides and shows and do those you like more than once.
Great place and as long as we are in Asia we will be back.
