The Hotel has a very nice, nostalgic look which is a throw back to the hotels of the 1920's and 30's. Since we were traveling with 2 young boys,it was only a short ride from the airport and it was also very convenient for us to get to and back to the hotel from the amusement park as the park shuttle bus will pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. The rooms are spacious enough for a 2 adults with 2 kids without requiring an extra bed. The beds were big and comfortable. The rooms came with complimentary use of HK Disney bath robes and bedroom slippers, even for the little ones. The bathrooms had both shower and bathtub.
The hotel offers money changing services at the front desk. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet at the enchanted forest cafe is a must when traveling with kids. The food was good and the variety quite decent ranging from asian (congee, dimsum, noodles, etc) to your more regular, western fare (e.g. sausages, hash browns, waffles, cereal, fruit, etc). However, the main attraction of this cafe are the mascots that visit your table and interact with the kids. The reaction and facial expressions of my kids were priceless. They still talk about that experience now, long after our trip.
Another great thing about staying at a Disney hotel in HK is that you can have the merchandise you purchased at the park delivered straight to the hotel. No more having to lug that t-shirt for your sister or that remote controlled jeep your son convinced you to buy all around the park. Also, if you forget to buy something at the HK Disneyland, the hotel has an off-park store at the lobby which carries a good selection of items from the park.
The hotel also has a garden maze at the back of the hotel where the kids can run around and explore. There is also a child activity center where kids can play with other kids at the hotel supervised by the friendly hotel staff. The kids can even get a bedtime story told to them before turning in at night.
For the adults who want to go shopping, HK Disney is only 2 stops away (around 7 kilometers) from the outlet stores at Citygate mall in Tung Chung. The only downside I can say about this place is that it is a bit expensive. However, what price tag can you put on having great memories with your family?
