“Value in HK!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

This hotel is of good standard. Rooms was nice. Bathroom was a bit basic but not too bad.

For HKD1,000 a night, I find this a very good deal in HK. Incl breakfast.

Location is great. MTR station is nearby and easy to wink a cab if you are going Central or Causeway Bay.

Right in the middle of Wanchai, surrounded by bars and clubs. Some sleezy, some not.

Breakfast was nice.

I will be back.

Have been to this hotel twice now as it is a very affordable hotel with a short walk to Convention Center..

* Food is excellent, and I love the restaurant. Almost never full, and very well serviced, the restaurant also has great views of street and a happy hour for free evening drinks.

* The rooms are small, but well appointed. Not the cleanest of hotels, but clean. Expect to be interrupted as soon as you settle in as their staff will knock on your door and check your fruit plate etc. I suggest putting a Do Not Disturb sign on your door if you are going right to sleep or showering right after you get in.

* The location is excellent, and a free shuttle travels between the Hong Kong MTR and the Wan Chai/Empire hotels (right across from one another).

Metropark Hotel is a good combination of price point and right location. In the very heart of Wanchai district in Hong Kong offers good opportunities to easily move, close to MTR station and HKCEC. Rooms are quite confortable, breakfast is ok and, if it's not during high season times (like HK Exhibition) prices are very reasonable. I have been their guest in June and they were renovating the lobby. I guess that, by September or next year at latest the work will be over.

Room Tip: Ask at the front desk for the managing director. She is very professional and willing to help

The hotel is located in Wanchai and very near to Admiralty. Transportation is very convenient, no matter you want to take the tram, MTR or bus. Wellcome Supermarket, Manning and Watson's are just located by the tram stop on the road parallel to Hennessy Road.

The room I booked this time is "Spacial Comfort". I know the rate of this hotel is quite expensive, so very lucky for me to get this type of room at such a rate. It offers free and high-speed WiFi. The corridor is decorated with small architectural models of Hong Kong on the walls, which looks very local.

The room is a large one in Hong Kong, very comfortable. The indoor decoration is quite decent, with beautiful table lamp and floor lamp. The curtains are black, which looks elegant along with the red lampshades.

The washroom is neither too small nor too large. Water from shower head is large and hot enough. I could enjoy a comfortable shower. The only drawback is that the small window on the washroom door is facing my bed. Thus, the light coming through the window of the washroom can go through the door window into the bedroom, which makes it bright (even I have pulled all the curtains in the bedroom).

The staff are very helpful and provided good service.

In sum, it values for money to stay.

I stayed one night en route to Europe. I have stayed in Hong Kong a number of times at various hotels. This hotel was mod range and quite ok. The lobby was being renovated and was not particularly welcoming. There were many people at the front desk but checkin was not efficient. On entering my room it smelt "damp" abd I have noted this at other hotels in Hong Kong. I assume it is the bathroom that has little ventilation. With the air conditioning running the odour soon went. The bed was like a stone slab, however, yo can call housekeeping and get a soft matters topper which made the bed comfortable. It took only a few mins from calling to the topper being fitted. You can also choose pillows so that was a good surprise. The location is good and close to the train and bats and restaurants. In the morning building work commenced outside at around 8 am and continued until I departed. You would not be able to rest during the day with that noise!

Dear Tripadvisor.com member – Ozmrr

Your comments about the check in process and smell in room have been receiving utmost attention of concerned departments for improvement and some dehumidifiers have already been placed in room to kill the dampness in spring season. For your information, the building next door has just been knocked down completely and no more noise would be heard from now on. As our hotel lobby and the lounge are currently under renovation till August, the new lobby will be unveiled in late July when the 1st phase completes. We hope you will find the hotel lobby and the lounge more appealing when visiting our hotel next time.

We are sorry for not being able to meet with your expectation on this visit. However, I still look forward to hearing from you at doo.hkwh@metroparkhotels.com and to welcoming you back to our hotel in the near future.

We found the Wan chai a very good hotel situated in a good location. Our room was very clean, smart, free water daily, free tea and coffee, nice big flat screen t.v with cable, comfy beds and a nice bathroom with free amenities. The house keepers here are doing a very good job. Also the reception were quite friendly and helpful. Our bill was £276.00 on checkout which I thought is good value ( better than the Strand in London) but like most places I do not agree with service charge which is 10% of your bill and £27 is a lot of money when you already paid for a room. I just dont get why places charge service charge, we wanted to leave a tip for the staff but can not because of this.

The Wan Chai is situated in a good location. We took a coach from the airport which took around 40 minutes, but I recommend you buy a Octopus card which is cheaper and more convienient way of getting about Hong Kong. You can get the MRT from the airport and go to Wan chai station next to the hotel. There are plenty of bars just around the corner with a lot of British expats and Philipino's. It's a real lively place if your into nightlife, there is also a few stripper joints with a lo of girls of the night hanging around. Me and my wife would eat in some local street food places and a good cheap place is Hay Hay just around the corner from the hotel offering good simple Chinese dishes at a cheap price.

As for getting around Hong kong, Wan Chai station is around the corner and buses, trams and taxi is ready available but do buy a Octopus MRT card as it will save you time and money. You can also gain any cash back left on your card if you do not use it up. As for tours we visited Sky 100 view point, but beware! It's overpriced and pictures are expensive, good view but not worth the money we spent. The peak is a nice view but like everywhere in HK, there is many buildings and lots of people. Central is for shopping, bus tours are expensive.

I would stay at Wan Chai again if I visited HK and if you like walking, you can get to most places buy foot.

This hotel is well located in Wanchai as it's only about 300m to the nearest MTR train station. Wan Chai is an interesting area in you take the time to walk up to Sun and Star streets and check out some of the little cafes and boutiques.
The hotel is perfectly adequate and reasonably priced. On of the reasons we stayed here was because they could accommodate an extra bed in the room for our 15 year old daughter, so we didn't need an extra room.
The renovations going on in the hotel and major excavation next door was a bit annoying - although we were warned about the changes happening in the hotel itself. We were not disturbed in the morning but it was noisy when we came back in the afternoon for a break.
Staff were helpful on the day of checkout with our bags and taxis etc.
If you are looking for a good value hotel in Hong Kong this will fit the bill.
