“Wow This Place is Expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

I was really excited to shop in Hong Kong but my hopes were dashed when I priced some items along Nathan Rd. I wanted to buy some jade jewlery and some black pearls and maybe a designer bag. I was hopefull that I would be able to make the jewlery purchases for less money than in the States, boy was I wrong! The jade in every jewlery store I looked in was in most cases more money than diamonds! The cheapest green jade necklace that I could find was $8,000 US dollars and it was on a black cord not a gold chain and it was a very light color jade with a green streak in it - not great by any standard! The markup on most items I was told was due to government tax, the tax was more on mainland China. If you are looking for bargains, stick to the markets no bargains here!

“An assault on your senses”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Nathan Road is not for the faint hearted! Our hotel was situated on Nathan Road and at the end of our seven night stay we were growing weary of the daily battle with cars and people. The lights, smells and sounds are unlike anything I had experienced before especially after a long flight from Australia.

There are shops selling absolutely everything from cameras and Ipads to clothes and traditional Chinese medicine (an eye opener!). As you walk towards Victoria Harbour you will find many high end stores such as Cartier, Burbery, Tiffanys, etc.

There are plenty of restaurants and don't forget to walk down the side streets where there are more shops and cafes.

Be warned that you will be approached by many hawkers trying to sell you 'authentic' rolex's, gucci handbags, etc. Keep walking and eventually you will get used to it.

“Don't bother! ”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

Went for a wander round to see what all the fuss was about. Constantly being hassled and nothing worth seeing or doing. If you like being pushed and shoved then this is the place for you. Wouldn't recommend it!

“Find Everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

This road seriously has shops for EVERYTHING...from clothes to shoes to jewelry to food. One advise though...sometimes its good to go into those little side roads because those tiny shops give better bargains on the same product and try not to stick only to boutiques if you are on a tight budget because boutiques have a fixed price...they will NOT bargain at all.
