“Rooms Face Cemetery”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2011

The staff asked us if we would like to upgrade for a fee, we asked what we would get, they said a "better view", they should of told me a room that doesn't face the cemetery.

They placed me in the smallest room in the hotel, right in the middle of the hotel with a 180 degree view of the cemetery, if you look out at the scrathched hole portions of the frosted glass.

Rooms in this hotel is very small. I keep bumping into my partner. Free WiFi from hotel lobby only.

Room Tip: find another hotel in HK,.

Cosmopolitan Hotel house 454 rooms sizing 22-48 square metres with most of them facing the city skyline and race course greenery. If room situation allows, we will upgrade our guests to the next room categories for an even more comfortable stay. Free Wifi is available in all hotel public areas including hotel lobby and restaurant.

i stayed here as part of a group, so cannot comment on price as i do not know how much it was per night. room was a good size, clean, bed comfortable, shower good. although its by busy road as i was high up this did not affect my sleep. only noise was occasionally from the corridor outside room if people came back late at night, but was minimal. breakfast was busy, but well organised and the food choice very good. eating in i found a little expensive, but good quality. there is lots of alternative, cheaper food choices only a short walk away. location is good being opposite the race course and only about 10 mins walk from Times Sq. staff were friendly and helpful.
(NB free Wifi in lobby and restaurant, which was an added bonus)

The Good
Rooms were clean and tidy
Service was very prompt and courteous
Walking distance to Times Square

The Bad
Noisy due to traffic if you get a room on the freeway side
Noisy due to thin walls (in fairness noisy neighbours were probably due to HongKong 7's being on but still...)

And The Ugly
Public transport into Central business district in the mornings

We are pleased to learn that you feel good about our rooms, service and location! All our guest rooms are equipped with sound-proof facilities in order to heighten the privacy in room. We understand that there is an individual difference to the threshold of noise so our 24-hour on duty guest service manager is happy to assist with any room change request. Regarding your comments on the transportation to Central, as a world-class city like Hong Kong, heavy traffic is unavoidable during certain busy hours. Nonetheless, our concierge staff is more than delighted to assist with any transportation arrangement such as flagging down a taxi for guest. On the other hand, the hotel also provides free shuttle service to Central (and other destinations too) stopping at IFC – International Financial Centre easing business travelers.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in January 2011.

Location: Easy walking distance of Happy Valley Racecourse and Wan Chai; 10 minute walk to Times Square. There was also a very convenient (and free) shuttle bus to some of the more common destinations e.g. Times Square and IFC mall - especially helpful for the trip home with shopping bags! Location felt very safe to walk around in the dark.
Check-in: fast and straightforward.
Room: We stayed in a family quad room which had 2 comfortable double beds, clean bathroom with shower over bath. Good view from the room. Very quiet; minimal outside noise. Clean. We were very happy with the room. Note - 'free' room internet has a daily connection charge. However this is fairly cheap & the internet is fast.
Breakfast: nothing special but had the essentials with both some Western and Asian cuisine; included in the room cost so we still ate there daily.
Service: very friendly and helpful with all of our requests.
Bar: located around the corner at the "Cosmo" branch...a bit too quiet! (i.e. we were one of 2 tables!) Probably best to head out if interested in a bar.
Restaurant: We had dinner there one night and were pleasantly surprised! Very nice Chinese food with quite an extensive menu.

Would stay at the Cosmopolitan again!

We spent 3 nights at this hotel on a recent trip to Hong Kong - and we couldn't have been more pleased. The guest services manager was fantastic from the moment we arrived. As we were on our honeymoon, we arrived back to our room one night to find a complimentry bottle of wine with a card. A nice classy touch that we certainly were not expecting. The day prior to checkout, they called our room to see if we needed anything, asking how our stay was and if there was anything they could do to make it better. Needless to say we had nothing to report - our stay was fantastic. A decent sized room - especially for Hong Kong, and it was very clean.

The hotel is probably about a 10 - 15 minute walk from metro station, but the hotel does provide a shuttle service. Hong Kong is such a fabulous city we opted to walk to the station, and on our way, got to walk through some really cool markets that we would not have seen if we took the shuttle.

On our next trip to Hong Kong - we will definitely be staying here.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for three nights at the end of March. This is my fourth visit to Hong Kong and what I have come to understand about HK is that finding a reasonable hotel in HK forces one to find the balance between a number of variables. For example, you will need to decide between access and location vs. room size, or perhaps customer service vs. location. Of course, all of this is a moot point if budget is not a consideration. However, if, like most of us, budget is an important consideration when booking hotels, then being able to find a hotel that satisfies all (or most) of our expectations is important. The Cosmopolitan does a very good job of finding this balance. It is well-located less than 10 minutes from Times Square and Causeway Bay MTR station. It has very good customer service and the staff does a good job of looking after your needs. The hotel is well kept and the rooms are clean...especially the bathrooms. The breakfast is well presented and has enough to keep even the most finicky satisfied.
Overall, the Cosmopolitan is a very good hotel in a very good location. I would book here again.
