We visited Hong Kong in July this year on a family holiday. After a few days we were all craving food with a western feel when we stumbled across Cafeine. It is a little hidden gem! It became our go to place for breakfast with bacon and eggs, an amazing porcini mushroom omelette and pesto toasted sandwiches our lunchtime favourite. The kids loved the smoothies and I cannot overstate how good the coffee is. We found ourselves sheltering there from the heat a few times and the Australian owner, Dean, made us feel very welcome. The baked treats are amazing so it's a great place for afternoon tea as well, and have I mentioned how good the coffee is? It is a little bit tricky to find but well worth it. Turn left at the intersection of Wellington St and Queens Rd and walk for about 30m. It’s on the ground floor of the Putnam Hotel and away from the hoards of people in the main shopping part of Queens Rd Central. Well worth stopping in when you’re exploring the traditional areas of Sheung Wan or just for a great coffee.
