“good for taking pictures”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Its a lovely green patch in the concrete jungle of HK. The unqie architecture (not a single nail has been used in building this nunnery), the main hall and the Lotus Pond is impressive. Lovely statues of Avalokiteshwara and Sakyamuni.
I went during the CNY celebrations and found the volunteers at the nunnery very very friendly and sweet. They were eager to exchange ideas about Buddhist principles with curious visitors and were curious about places they had never been to. I left with many hugs from the wonderful staff.

“Good if visiting Nan Lian Garden”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Essentially this is a religious venue and quite rightly photography is forbidden. If you are visting Nan Lian Garden then cross the road to view the lotus garden. The buildings though quite impressive are not that old, being built of Canadian Cedar. If you are a Buddhist then this certainly of much more interest. Whatever your faith it is a place to be treated with respect. There is a gift shop which is located discretly down a flight of steps and if you wish you can make some very expensive purchases there.

“Nice courtyard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

I liked the courtyard. I felt I made a time-travel and find myself somewhere in ancient times in a strange but pleasant place. The golden statues of Buddha and some gods was interesting to look at.

The rest was nothing special and pretty boring.

“Beware closing times”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

Went to Chi Lin Nnnery but apparently they close once the sun down (february). On the outside okay but nothing like a great old temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Just okay.
