The Forsgate Conservatory is one of a handful of free attractions that can be easily visited at Hong Kong Park, offering family-and budget friendly activity on Hong Kong Island. We enjoy visiting Hong Kong Park a couple times a year and try to stop by the Conservatory building to see the plants on display here in the Dry Plant House and the Humid Plant House. At times there are orchid and other exhibitions at the Forsgate Conservatory as well.
We like the Dry Plant House, where you can find a small collection of cacti and other plants from the more arid parts of the world. Next, you can see the Humid Plant Room, which is expectedly lush with plant life, featuring a sloped walkway and fair number of flowering plants mixed with thick but well manicured vegetation. You can find some orchids and other tropical zone flowers and blooms, which are good for up close photography practice.
The Forsgate Conservatory is not a world-class facility. However, considering that it is free, its difficult to fault the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department for their endeavours with the conservatory as well as the other similar attractions found in Hong Kong Park. In the end, the conservatory is a quick and manageable visit, requiring no more than 15-30 minutes of your time.
