“Great coffee for expats and locals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Rabbithole is first and foremost a coffee roasting business with all the best equipment and a huge range of beans. It's not a cafe, it's strictly coffee - however you like it. For the uninitiated, there are flow charts explaining the different kinds of processes they can use to make coffee. If you know what you want, and how you want it made, Rabbithole is probably the best place to get your caffeine fix. Tried two different blends while I was there - one really hit the mark and the other was only so-so for my taste. Definitely a place to go in between meals, either alone with a book or with a coffee-loving friend, and prepare to drink a few cups to really get to appreciate the work the baristas do.

“Excellent coffee, inefficient service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

Great coffee, intelligible staff, wonderful variety of coffee making methods. This is for people who know their coffee beans and brewing specs. If you just say you want a black coffee, you need to tell the staff specifics like slow brew or fast, what type of slow brew, etc. Otherwise miscommunication or misunderstanding will give u the wrong cup. And the staff won't say sorry, they probably don't want to lose face and ask you what do you mean when you say black coffee... Americano, siphon, aeropress, hand drip, etc.? Almost like coffee snobs without the aristocratic look and porcelain cups. Tight space, don't bring big groups or kids. Saw a couple with an infant have difficulty getting a seat (not bar stool) finally sat down, waited for ages for a server to come (who never came, we had to stop a server to get his attention) and then left because of the service. Expect to stand or wait for a seat. Flow of operations quite inefficient, you'll see staff doing multiple tasks which slows down service. Their menu could use an update. It's a flow chart with no prices, but "suggested prices" listed $30, $36, $38... What does that mean when there aren't even choices for cup sizes? Not easy to order from without asking questions and if you don't like charts or are learning about coffee, the menu will confuse you. BUT the coffee was excellent, my cappuccino was delicate, foam was fine and light... This was the best part. The coffee was indeed excellent and a fine brew.

“10 stars out of 5”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

I've stumbled upon this place while travelling up the escalator from Central towards the top of the hill (look left at the escalator level and you won't miss their glass balcony with a rabbit). The place looked like a paradise for a coffee geek and it turned out to be exactly that. Choose your beans, choose your method and they will make it for you.
My favourite was "naked" espresso with Indonesian beans.
I've tried other good coffee places in Hong Kong, but Rabbithole remained my favourite by far.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves coffee.
I love coffee and have tried coffee in various countries. Rabbithole is easily in my worldwide top 3 list of coffee shops.

Few notes:
1) they don't serve food which is good in my opinion, but some people may be surprised
2) they didn't use soy milk in their latte and cappuccino, not a problem for me since I drink espresso, but again, some people may find it annoying. My wife liked her soy latte at "18 grams" at Causeway Bay and "Fuel espresso" at IFC building a distant second.

“Seriously good coffee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Not for the faint hearted or hungry, this coffee house is more like a coffee science lab. Amazing to watch and learn while sipping special coffee. No food or alternatives so this for the coffee lover. Great experience. Plus a range of interesting beans and equipment to buy inc some cool glasses!

“Hard to find , but a real gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

We searched a while for this cafe , its two floors up next to the midtown travelator and almost hidden away like a speakeasy bar . Mike the manager was great , coffee was exceptional ambience and atomosphere is like you are sitting in a coffee lab , for the short while we were there more and more caffiene junkies were so relieved to have finally found the place and they were rewarded with a great coffee experience
