22 Shi*s is about right... except for the sweetheart of a hostess. After a 40 minute wait, was seated and the waiter behind the counter ignored me for 10 minutes until I had to hail one of the other waiters. Strange. In London and New York when you sit at a counter, the person behind it smiles, says hello, and would you like a drink? Even in most places in HK. But not in this excuse for a restaurant. One of the fish courses was sold out by 8pm so ordered a cuttlefish, a rubbery piece of yuck in a pesto sauce. Didn't eat it after the first bite. Also a peas and broad beans and cheese and serrano dish which wasn't half bad but wasn't anything special. Couple sits next to me and the bartender/waiter immediately says hello and takes their order. What gives? They get a fish dish that looks half decent and I ask what is that, they say oh it's on the specials board, did they not tell them to you about it? No. I saw a different -- local --- couple pay their bill, and noticed they left no tip. They didn't look happy either. This place labels itself as "No reservations, no service". They don't charge service, and they shouldn't, because they don't give any service that is comparable to the thousands of place I have been to in my life. Perhaps they should and they might hire someone with basic skills behind the counter. 22 Shi*s. I've been to Hong Kong dozens of times and gone to dozens of places and liked almost all of them, and love tapas in London like Barrafina. This one had no redeeming qualities. Go to Enoteca on Elgin, 1000X better if you want tapas in HK that is both palatable with a competent and friendly wait staff.
