After we finished dinner, I wondered if we were indeed at the same Giando we dined in about a year ago. We started with the octopus salad, fried calamari, scallops with beef cheek and the plate of cured ham. All very lovely, fresh and well presented; delicious. Something happened with the mains.
Then we had the Risotto with crab meat and Lobster, pasta with clams and the veal with mushrooms. The Risotto was good, but the sauce for the veal and the pasta seemed to be heavily flavoured with either beef bullion cube or a store bought flavour enhancing mix.
it reminded me of store bought gravy mix, particularly for the veal. The sauce for the pasta with clams with beans was over cooked and over mixed, almost pasty. Seemed like a trainee was in charge of these two dishes.
While the chef indeed is very charming, the staff was similar to the food; inconsistent. not sure i would give it a 3rd try.
