“Nice Bus Ride & Shopping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We took bus number 63 from our L'hotel Causeway Bay (near Tin Hua MRT) for HKD 8.90 per person. The journey was 45 minutes and bus ride was comfortable and along the way we enjoyed the nice scenery. Shopping at Stanley market was reasonably nice as most of the shops were friendly.

“Shopping in the countryside...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

This market is worth the trip if you have extra time. It's about a 40-minute bus ride from Central.

Unlike the night markets like Ladies market or Temple Street market, Stanley market is a daytime market located on the south most part of Hong Kong Island. Well worth the trip if you want to do a bit of shopping and get away from the urban scene. Bargains are not as intense as the ones you'd get at Ladies market or Temple Street market but you'll find some unique items and some outlet stores (where they sell cheap clothing).

There are several buses that go from Central to Stanley and back. Bus numbers 6, 6x and 260 are some. You can enjoy the views on the way to Stanley (check out the Hong kong style flats). You can also make a stop over to Repulse Bay beach along the way.

Also home to Murray house and Tin Hau temple and the small yet quaint Stanley beach. Best to go there in the afternoon - do some shopping then chill out at one of the seaside cafes or restos while watching the sun set.

“Love the tony shops and cares”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

This is quite a distance from the main hub of HongKong which is Kowloon and Hong Kong side. You go through Causeway bay going towards Dtanley but the views are magnificent because you go through winding and steep roads. Stanley is on the coast and the shops are so charming.so many things to buy. The cares remind me of those in Paris except that this is situated on the coast. It's a picturesque and touristy site. Visit it.

“Has changed over the years ....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

My first visit to Stanley Market was years ago when it was the place to pick up cheap items that were seconds or slightly defective (but still overall good quality). It has now evolved into a place for tourist to pick up cheap items with the overall quality being less than it used to be. They have made the area a bit nicer though with more restaurants and the area is much cleaned up from before. However, having seen the original market and village, it's a nice getaway from the city but not as charming as it used to be.

“Scenic and idyllic seaside community with good eats and buys”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

This makes a nice half-day weekend trip. Do visit Stanley market, with its warren of little streets lined with shops selling artwork, clothes and knickknacks, as well as the slightly upmarket Stanley Plaza, which has a Taste Supermarket which stocks practically anything you might need. Foodwise, there are a number of cafes (eg Delifrance) and pubs, or you can try dim sum or other local dishes. If you have the time, take a scenic coastal walk to the nearby beach and the old police station, as well as Murray House, which now houses a Maritime Museum. Even without an MTR, getting to and from Stanley is a breeze. There are double decker buses from Central, or you can take the No. 40 public mini bus from Causeway Bay for a single journey fare of Hk$9.60 (take it from Tang Lung street, which is just off Percival Street near Times Square).
