“Hong Kong Museum of History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

Off the tourist track but well worth the walk to find it. Parking very difficult. Modern building that tracks the history of Hong Kong from the Jurassic times to the present day..Reasonable cafe and good toilets.

Well laid out and presented place for history and art visitors. Good location to other features on waterfront.

“Blasts from the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

On a very stimulating visit of the Island last autumn this place was heavily recommended to me by a long almost lost cousin
Once my wife returned to the coal face that is the big factory in Altona, i knuckled down for a week of climbing stairs, catching ferries and chasing tail (no erase the last bit from your minds)
One quite saturday morning i hiked up to this cool museum in Kowloon from the stat ferry
A nutritious way to spend half a day-
NB. not Japanese friendly

“HIGHLY RECOMMENDED”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Make sure you allow a couple of hours to visit this excellent compilation of the events that helped create Hong Kong as it is today.

The museum can be a little tricky to navigate (even if you follow the signs that highlight the various stages in its history), but if you follow along, you leave with a good sense of the development and changes the city went through.

If you go on a Wednesday, admission is free.

“Quite extensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Unlike most museums in Hong Kong, the museum of history is actually quite extensive and has adequate amount of visual aids in terms of the history and the cultural backgrounds of the different groups of people living in Hong Kong. It provides a better understanding of what makes the city diverse behind all the layers of concrete and skyscrapers. It is definitely recommended for people who want to understand more the background of Hong Kong and what makes it as it is today.
