“Clean Rooms, Nice People and Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

The rooms are clean and the reception people are very nice. I often stopped by the front desk to ask for directions and they are very helpful. And of course, it's right beside the Jordan MTR station. The buffet breakfast was okay and the omelet station was an added bonus.

We are also upgraded to a higher room when we checked in and also they allowed us an early check-in.

Overall, a great stay in this hotel during the Chinese New Year. I'll definitely book in this hotel again.

Room Tip: The night's market is just a few blocks away.

Good place if you planning to put your luggage and check the city out... The subway is just beside your hotel and the bus stop is as you come out of the hotel.. But the rooms AND service are a bit below average... It's walking distance from temple street and to many restaurants around...

Shamrock Hotel is close to everything - MTR station, bus stop, shopping district, night market, fast food outlets and some decent chinese restaurants.

We stayed in a newly renovated standard twin room on a non-smoking floor with a good view of Nathan road. They provided a rollaway bed (to accomodate the 3 of us) that was placed at the foot of the 2 single beds. The room was a bit small but we still have some space to open our luggage even with the rollaway bed.

Room was clean and we didn't see any bug in our entire stay (June 14-17, 2012). Housekeeping kept our room (and bathroom) tidy and they replenished the toiletries and empty our waste bin everyday. Pillows are soft and beds smell of fresh linen. They even gave us extra pairs of hotel slippers that we took home.

Set breakfast was okay and was just enough to fill our tummies before we start our daily activities. Wifi is not free so I didn't bother checking my emails.

Upon check out, the receptionist simply asked me what items we consumed from the mini bar (they didn't check the room). I paid the items in HKD and they cancelled the deposit that was initially charged to my credit card when we checked in. They also allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel lobby to give us time to do last minute shopping.

Overall we were pleased with our stay. Just don't expect too much and you will not be disappointed. This hotel meets your basic requirements of a decent place to stay while in HK.

Room Tip: book in advance so you'll get the room of your choice

In Hong Kong, one cannot expect to find rooms the size of an actual double bedroom. They will probably be the size of a hostel room, especially when you're on a mid-range budget, and the Shamrock is no exception. Our room was tiny with barely any space to even open our suitcases, the bath was a squeeze. Nonetheless, it was clean, hygienic, had all the basic amenities such as a TV, a few toiletries, clean blankets and even this soft, comfy pair of white slippers which we fought over. This hotel is still a great place to stay as it's location is excellent. It's almost on top of an MTR station. There are markets and many, many places to eat (catering to a wide variety of palettes) nearby and even a 24 hour convenience store which we particularly found handy. The front desk was courteous and helped us procure an adapter. We were satisfied with our stay especially because of the convenience it provided with respect to actually touring HK.

Room Tip: Make sure you know what exactly is the check in time, because that can cause some confusion!

stayed 2 nites. location wise is perfect. standard room was larger than another hk hotel that i stayed in for the same price range. English speaking front office staff was very helpful with my queries and also offered to keep luggage till the time to go to the airport later on checkout day.

Cafe de coral hk fastfood chain nearby for cheap eats and a supermart opposite, jordan mtr just beside, many local food shops behind the hotel. temple street nite market within short walking distance. location is perfect. good value.
