“Hiking in Hong Kong”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

Wonderful hiking and beautiful vistas - right in Hong Kong. The trail is well maintained. There are some inclines but basically this is a relatively easy hike for anyone in relatively good shape.

“What a gem in Hong Kong”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

My previous view of HK was the cauldron that is Central, TST and Mong Kok. Surely this is part of the reason why I love HK, but I was surprised to learn that you within striking distance can find tranquility and really beautiful scenery.

I went to Dragon's Back by public transport which is a mix of the metro (Shau Kei Wan) and a local bus (#9). As the stops are announced on route in Chinese and English it's simply a matter of knowing which stop to get off at (To Tei Wan stop).

From here you can't go wrong.

The hike is pleasant and the views really great.

“What a Hike!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Wow...this was a nice find! My cousin and I unfortunately went in flip flops though, and the ground was not as dry and accommodating. But it was definitely a good workout! The views at the top and along the route were awesome. I would love to try it again, but with shoes this time. Also did not have a chance to walk the entire trail. Wish we had set aside more time.

The only hitch was trying to find the entrance. We kind of wandered a bit after exiting the bus, but eventually found it. Well worth it!

“Some of the best views in Hong Kong”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Went hiking on a weekday morning and had the whole place almost completely to ourselves. Great hike and not difficult at all. Had to navigate a little bit but that added to the fun.

“Absolutely stunning and completely unexpected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013

Stopped in Hong Kong for a quick 4 day trip on the way to Thailand and was unsure what to expect. We were jetlagged and woke up at 5AM - what to do!? We scoured several travel brochures from the hotel lobby and finally found a self guided hike in a small article with obscure bus instructions to get there.... After an hour and 2 busses later... We were finally dropped off at a deserted stop in the middle of nowhere on Hong Kong island. Oh the horror. What have we done!!?? We quickly found the obscure trail beginning and tentatively started the hike. After about 30 minutes we started seeing other people and felt a little more comfortable. I think it was about an hour into the hike when you are hit with this absolutely stunning 360 degree view of sky scrapers, beautiful green mountains, and amazing resort towns. Not at all what I would expect from Hong Kong island. It was so diverse. After we descended on the other side of the mountain, we made our way to a small town right on the beach. We bought a couple of beers and put or feet in the sand on the ocean. Amazing. It was by far my favorite day on the entire Asia trip (HK, Thailand, Tokyo)... You must do it.
