I was sent to stay at The Mira by an airline as my flight from Shanghai was delayed and missed my connection and needed to stay overnight in Hong Kong. I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel - I stayed in one of the Club Rooms on level 12, with a view of the park.

Pros:
- completely non smoking hotel which fines you if you do smoke
- Geat location, 5 min walk to Tsim Sha Tsui station, 2 stops away from Mong Kok to go to the Ladies Market and on the same line to get to Central and Admiralty on the HK Island side
- It is also 10 min walk to the famous Canton Road shopping street with the high end stores, mixed with the more affordable shops on the other side (a large H & M if you're trying to find one!)
- Very good breakfast with large selection of food, predominantly a western buffet but still had a number of Asian choices
- Friendly and attentive staff, particularly the team the the front desk and guys at the front. They were also good at ensuring the large tour groups stayed in lines rather than push in front of you
- Decent sized room (Club room) for HK standards and well equipped, liked that there was a complimentary cellphone you could use and universal power points
- Refurbished and still felt new, not like some other hotels which feel dated and old

Cons:
- the hotel was very dark, could have had something to do with the decor which was predominantly black with mirrors. Coming out of the lifts to your floor was also a little disorietpntaing given the mirros and the numerous reflections. And the room numbers on the doors were a little hard to find as the aren't on the actual doors but closer to the ground of the wall next to the door
- The room was very dark also which was a little frustrating
- waiting for the lifts took a LONG time, all the time. Waited at least 5 mins every time for it to arrive
- the room had a strange smell, like cooking. I noticed a few others have mentioned this, not sure what it was from but very potent in the bathroom and front door
- lots of groups stay here, so be prepared to wait a lot - wait to check in, check out, at the lift, for a table at the restuarant etc.

I would definitely consider staying here again if I went back to HK for a holiday, we normally stay on the HK Island side but this was a nice change.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Club Room, it's worth the extra space and added benefits.

Mira is an excellent choice if one likes to be in the heart of TST and wants proximity to MTR and local and foreign eateries. With it being fairly new new, the dark hallways and lobby look chic, but if not well maintained, it can deteriorate into eerieness.

The standard rooms are too small for the quoted price for Mira. While it has techie equipment in the room, I found it rather bare, and no luxury feel to it. Eg even in a suite, the desks are laminate style, so does not look very classy compared to what they have spent on the techie stuff. Sometimes technology can be troublesome for guests, eg the "do not disturb" light came on without us setting it, so you can imagine our shock when we returned at 9+ with tired, whiny kids, to find that the room was not made, and we had to vacate it while they cleaned, and all this while, the staff not even offering us a drink at the lobby!

Compared to international chains, this is one aspect I find Mira lacking. While the staff appear to want to please, they (I guess) may have too little leeway to provide complimentary alternatives to make up for service lapses. Also, international chains tend to offer free upgrades, but as in our case, and two other reviews I read, a top-up is needed. So, be careful when you decide to book - make sure that the room type etc is exactly what you want, bearing in mind especially that standard rooms with king bed are more limited than two twin beds, which means for families travelling with kids, you may have a problem since the twin beds cannot be pulled together to form a king, and I think the standard room can at best take an extra cot. If they put an extra bed for you, there will be precious little space to move around the room.

The part of Mira which I am most impressed with is the concierge service. They are most willing to help, offering very good tips of where to eat / go etc, and even at the airport, they are prepared to walk you through to look for stores etc.

So, overall, given that the Mira is still quite new now and how the concierge staff makeup for the rest of the staff, I would say the experience is above average. To be rated good, they need to work on the heartware, yet maintain their hardware.

Room Tip: be careful when you decide to book - make sure that the room type etc is exactly what you want, bear...

A very convenient hotel in Tsimshatsui for both business or pleasure. I was upgraded to a roomy suite (Room XX17) with a separate steam shower and double jacuzzi, perfect at the end of the day after enduring the inevitable amount of walking that one has to do when in Hong Kong. The room appointments were great and the design easy on the eye. Breakfast selections were plentiful and the eggs benedict were perfect to start the day. Checked out the lounge and it was rather small, so no need to upgrade for lounge privileges unless you have a serious desire for privacy. Otherwise, have coffee with friends in the stylish and attractive inner courtyard lounge.

Only other drawback to the hotel is its lobby. Maybe it was designed to be extra dark to mask the fact that there is no soaring ceiling like other hotels of its class. As a result, it feels cramped and crowded, especially as traffic through the lobby tends to get very heavy. As to location, the MTR is a two-block walk away and taxis are easily flagged. All the best shopping and restaurant locations are within easy walking distance, especially the row of restaurants located up the hill at Knutsford Terrace.

We stayed 3 nights in a suite at The Mira recently with the family. We think it makes an interesting proposition for guests intending to explore the Tsim Sha Tsui and Kowloon locality.

To begin with, location is good with the MTR just a block away and the hotel smack in the middle of the busy shopping area and lots of eateries. What is lacking though is there is no drop off at the hotel lobby - this is not too convenient if one were to come by the airport hotel bus service with lots of baggage.

We had initially booked a normal room but upgraded to a suite at HKD1,000 more a night - no automatic upgrade here.

Although some may find the interiors a tad dark, the attention to interior detail in the eateries, common areas and room are elegant and impressive.

The indoor swimming pool is heated and sited next to the spa. All nicely done up though I didnt get the chance to try the spa services.

We had a go at the 1 Michelin Star restaurant Cuisine Cuisine and tried the wine pairing degustation menu. Not a bad experience in totality and the wines were quite impressive.

Overall it was quite a nice experience and while perhaps some inhouse services like room service and the lack of front office safe deposit boxes may not be as impressive as the hardware, it was nonetheless acceptable. Front office supervisor, Mavin was very attentive and offered us a complimentary limo to the airport on the last day.

The Mira offers an overall interesting change from the usual Marriotts and Hiltons - what they lack in space they make up with interesting interiors and decor.

I booked the hotel with great expectations, as I read about the bunch of money spent for renovation and its beautiful design. From outside, beautiful facade, with white waves. But I was really disappointed when entering into the lobby, as it is so dark that you scarcely see the reception desk. Impossible to use the area for a business discussion, as it looks like a disco.
I had the basic room, dark too, with view on the courtyard. The design is too obvious, nothing really "different" or personal. I also disliked the room setting, with the washbasin just next the door, in the room, without any screen.
It probably depends on the type of rooms. In case, go for upper level.
The staff is excellent, very attentive careful and helpful. Location next to everything in Kowloon.

Pros:
1. Location is perfect in the heart of TST. MTR is less than a 5 min walk and Taxis are plentiful. A walk to Harbourcity (the huge luxury shopping mall) is approx 15 mins away. The Mira location is perfect to walk around n wander the street, Lots of food, (restaurants n HK cafes) and shopping (HK brands n luxury brands). The area is a lot more vibrant as compared to the hotels along the Harbourcity stretch.

2. Hotel decor is very modern n sleek, room is on a slightly smaller size but the overall design n hi tech features makes up for it. Room furniture and fittings all look very new n clean.

3. Service is great n the staff tries their best to go all out

Cons:
1. The hotel room has a few flaws:
a) Walls are thin n I can hear my neighbours when they enter their room
b) Shower water pressure is not very strong
c) Aircon vent might have a minor problem, one late morning my hubby n I smelled a slight food cooking scene (we suspect it came from the vent) wasn't smelly but jus thought it was weird. "Scent" lasted for bout 15 mins.

Overall despite its minor room flaws I will def reccomend The Mira hotel. The hotel design is modern new n trendy (a more minimalistic version of the W Hotel) n the location is terrific!
