“Great Position”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

This hotel is situated on the busy Nathan Road it's a bit away from the harbor but very handy for the Temple street night market, the Jade market and the Ladies market and only a short walk to the harbor. The rooms have been upgraded in the last couple of years and although not big are well equipped and very clean. There is a nice little cocktail bar with entertainment in the evenings and a restaurant also on the premises . They also have a premier floor which has it's own lounge with with cocktail and snacks a fast checkout desk and free internet. I have stayed here on quite a few occasions and would go back again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and get the premier floor the extra cost is well worth it.

We didn't book the executive floor but was offered as an upgrade when we checked in. HKD 550+10%. For this you get a room on 15th floor, free wifi, breakfast and drinks between 1800-2000 hrs.

The room isn't large and you'll struggle to have two suitcases open at the same time unless you use the desk and the little sofa. The room is nicely presented but is one of those rooms where you need every light on at the same time to provide a reasonable amount of brightness.

I have two complaints about the room, the first one is that the toilet door and the small wardrobe are the same, you slide it left or right depending which one you want to use. This poses a problem at night, because if you go to the bathroom and slide the door closed then the wardrobe light automatically turns on and wakes up your partner. So basically you need to stumble around in the dark and keep the noise down in the bathroom.

Second complaint is that almost all lights and room functions are controlled from a control panel next to the bed. The ergonomics are awful, rather than having switches it is more like a touch screen so you don't know what what you are pressing in the dead of night. assume you want to change the aircon temperature you might accidentally press the "master" button and all lights come on at once ! Do Novotel do any usability testing?

Food in the executive lounge for high tea is nice but the food in the evening is so so. Coffee is really good and alcoholic drinks selection is excellent. You can also eat buffet breakfast downstairs for more choice.

Last point , we arrived late to this hotel approx 3am after a long haul flight. There was no bell boy to help us with our luggage from the taxi and nobody on reception. I had to call into the office to alert someone.

I would stay here again

Room Tip: Away from the elevator.

Easy to get to the Novotel, Cityflyer bus from the airport, stop number 10, the side street for the entrance to the hotel is just in front of you in Saigon Street, the hotel is modern and clean with a great breakfast, there is no wardrobe space to speak of, the security safe and computers in reception are free to use, the hotel is conveniently located half way up Nathan road so nothing is too far. Would use again if staying in Hong Kong.

The hotel is a little hidden in the alley but we have no trouble finding it. Room size & decor ultra modern. Looks like it has recently been renovated. Buffet Breakfast is excellent although they try to take your plate away before you finish your meal. Room cleanliness should be improved. Found a strand of hair left in my drinking glass. The connecting room was blocked by a piece of mattress at the doorway between the 2 rooms. The hotel should find some place to store this and not leave it lying around in the room.

We arrived early and our room is ready, having 2 toddler boys it was great help for me after an early flight. We stayed at the executive lounge family room. The food in the lounge are just fine, enough to fill up our tummy. They have nespresso machine and the evening cocktails are good, lots of variety like smoked salmon, beef burger, siomai, pastries and red wines. The check out is a little bit slow.We will surely go back again,my kids had a great time.Aside from the location, the best thing is,the crowd of this hotel are well mannered, i hate bumping into a big tour group who doesnt have etiquette.

Good hotel with adequate small rooms, sufficient for a couple of nights stay.Close to public transport. Very little robe space ans sitting area.
Buffet breakfast was very good. Good variety of international foods.
Very quiet inside the hotel, no traffic noise on our floor(9th).
Close to Jade Market and Night Market.

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking floor.

The Novotel Nathan Road is a no-nonsense hotel, not flash, but clean and comfortable. The lcoation is great - tucked off a side street from busy Nathan Road it is close to several MTR stations and great shopping, restaurants and markets. Temple St night market is two streets away and the Hong Kong Museum of Art is a 10-15 minute walk. There are no "views" from the hotel, but that's not a drawback when all the action is outside anyway! The rooms are small - even on the "premier" floor, but they are quiet and comfortable with complimentary water, coffee (instant) and tea. Breakfast was plentiful with a good variety of Chinese and western choices. There is a small but adequate fitness room. Helpful and friendly staff. Not so cheap, so do a "deal" if you can - ask for an upgrade, free breakfast, etc - you never know if you don't ask!. Internet available - free 20 minutes in the lobby, otherwise there is a fee for 24 hours use,.
