“Good value in a relatively quiet and accessible area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

We stayed two nights at Bishop Lei over New Year. Like previous contributors, we found this to be good value and an honest and reliable hotel, with very good and attentive service. Having arrived from a long haul flight with two ill children (a baby and a four year old) we were particularly grateful to be allowed an early check in and for the hotel's kind assistance in cleaning a pram which bore all the evidence from a sick baby! The views from the harbour suite were fantastic, and while it was slightly squeezy with 2 adults and 2 kids, it was certainly manageable, particularly for 2 nights. We would certainly recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in staying again.

This is not a glamorous hotel, but it is good value, clean, safe, and in a great location in Hong Kong. If you book a Harbour view Suite, you get a great view, and a very small sitting room. I think that the breakfast is only so so, but it is easy enough to walk into Soho and get a cafe breakfast.

Stayed with my family in hong kong during new year holidays 2013-2014 for 9 nights. booked two harbour view suites to accomodate 4 of us. in fact, there is no harbour view from the windows. The skyline is busy with sky scrapers. To be honest those buildings are quite picturesque at night time with multiple lights. The suite is not very big to be called truly a suite, but for hong kong standards this is normal. If you travel with one kid the suite should be enough for a family, as there are two rooms with a small sofa in one of them. the quality of the hotel is close to 4 stars european standards/ the rate was 110 euros per night per room, which was considered to be a very good rate per room in hk at this time of the year. please note that i booked the room 6 months in advance.
The staff is formally client oriented. They are well trained, but not all of them really believe their heart what they do. They will not go an extra mile beyond what they have to do. To be fair, when i asked them to change one of my rooms they did it quite quickly, but when i asked people at reception to have my luggage moved to a new room, they failed.
The breakfast was not included in the room rate. i did it on purpose as my friends reccomended me many places around. i tried once the breakfast. it was nothing special. the selection was quite modest.
The great about this hotel in my view is the location. it is in the central HK, but stays outside of crowds. it is not far from mid level escalator which makes it very easy to get to the Central train station. Bus stop is also right in front of the hotel. Plenty of restaurants of all tastes around.
To cut the long story short, I will recommend this hotel to my friends who will travel to hk and will look for good value for money in the central hk

Room Tip: hoarbour view suite is a good selection.

Firstly, to those who have read mixed reviews about Bishop Lei International you need to realize that most of those reviews are from people who (naively) seem to think they'd booked a 5-star resort... A 5-star resort this is not. What it is though is a perfectly positioned HOTEL (look it up!) in the lovely and relatively quiet area of Hong Kong's mid-levels. You are only a couple of minutes away from the escalator and then another couple of minutes (on the escalator) from the restaurants and bars of Soho and LKF. If you're not sure if those two areas are where you want to be, then it's easy. Do you like going out and want to have plenty of options at night? If 'yes', then near Soho and LKF is where you want to be. If 'no' then there are hundreds of other nice areas for you to stay and sip on your English breakfast tea while lying by the pool in your overpriced HK 'resort'.

This place is perfect. The rooms aren't massive, but, if like me, you're only there to sleep and shower, what on earth do you need a giant room with a couch and desk for? As for the price, well.... compared to everything else in HK this joint is an absolute BARGAIN.

I will stay at Bishop Lei whenever I go back to Kong Kong. End of story. The is absolutely no way any other hotel can offer what this one does for the price and position.

thgis is a little off the beaten path but my stays here have always been pleasant
less of a frantic pace in this midlevels locations and just a short walk to he escalators taking you down to central
be advised the escalators are on going down in mornings and up at night biut if you know Hong Kong central area at all you know you will be doing a fair amount of walking including climbing stairs
the bishop lei is owned by the Cathoolic Church but do not let that deter you
the prices are decnt and again it is more like a residential area as compared the the frantic hotel areas of most Kowloon and HK island

Room Tip: brekafast was disapointings rooms were decent views were quite pleasing and pool is closed in co...

I would recommend bishop Lei as a nice, very well-located, reasonably-priced (especially during off-peak season) hotel.

Only hassle is the Internet - only two passwords per room. This seems like a minor problem but it's a bit annoying if you've brought an iPad or something and can't get everything online.

Pleasant Hotel - a shame I booked and paid extra for a harbour view as the weather was misty. So what little view between the buildings we had we couldn't see anyway! Our room stank of smoke and couldn't open the windows. The room was adequate although quite small.
