“Smooth as silk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

I admit that I would much rather stay in a Western chain hotel than any of the homegrown Chinese ones. It's because you know exactly what to expect in terms of cleanliness and service standards. Chinese hotels are absolutely getting better with each time I visit... but they haven't quite attained the dependable constancy of the big Western labels. To list a few: Dehumidifiers on every floor so that I didn't detect one iota of nasty mold smell. White glove clean tubs. Friendly, attentive staff. A smoke free room being actually smoke free. No questions asked customer service. Plus, the location of this hotel is amazing! It takes up more harbor side real estate than any of its competitors. We had such a wonderful night view of the ocean. The only unfortunate thing is that I couldn't convince them to comp me for the wireless internet. *eye roll.

When you arrive at the hotel you know that this is a real luxury hotel. The staff efficient and polite. Check in smooth and quick. We were upgraded to a junior suite. A excellent room with excellent facilities and fabulous views over the harbour. The buffet in the restaurant was as well as being of a very high an standard and although not cheap, the food was extensive in choice, you couldn't possibly eat all that was available, but we did try. The swimming pool was very well attended with friendly staff.

Just spent 3 nights with my family and had an amazing experience. As soon as we arrived at the airport in Hong Kong, a representative was waiting for us, took our luggage, escorted us to a parked limo and away we went to the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, we were escorted immediately to our room by the hotel manager and a lady from guest relations where our check in was completed. You have to stay in a Harbor View room. The view in the Morning and the evening is spectacular. The concierge arranged for a driver for my family and we had a great time exploring Hong Kong. The breakfast was probably one of the best buffets we ever had and dinner in Yan Toh Heen, with a window table, overlooking the harbor and watching the light show will be a truly memorable experience.

This is the standard all hotels should strive for. We arrived from an early morning flight and were warmly greeted - something that continued with every single staff member during our 4 night stay.

Our check-in was assisted by a lovely guest relations lady who then escorted us up to our room. As Intercontinental members we were upgrade to the Club Room which was well appointed, spacious and the perfect place to unwind in busy Hong Kong.

With every single interaction with staff, from those opening the front doors to housekeeping, we were welcomed with genuine smiles and warmth. We looked forward to coming back to the hotel at the end of a busy day of sightseeing, particularly to just sit in the lobby lounge and look at one of the best views of the harbour - with a cocktail. At night, the little band plays or there's a lovely voiced singer. This is the perfect way to relax in comfort and style.

We would highly recommend anyone to stay at this wonderful hotel.

Some travellers tips:
1. Walk down to the Star Ferry and use this easy service to get across the bay. You can also book the Star Ferry for cruises - book early for the tour during the lights show at night.
2. Near the ferry is a Tourist Information office - they are fantastic. You can buy a cheap tourist SIM card (5 or 8 days).
3. Laundry is expensive in the hotel. Ask the Tourist Information office for the location of the laundry service just down Nathan Road. HK$30 for 3kgs of laundry.
4. For a cheap but tasty bite for lunch, the Sogo shopping centre just near the hotel has a food court on the lower level. You can also buy snacks and alcohol to take back to the hotel rather than using the minibar.
5. The hotel infinity pool is closed for renovations but they do have another pool (plus gym and spa treatments - also free tai chi and yoga sessions).

Stayed nine nights in July. As a member of the Ambassador Club I booked a deluxe harbour view room with club access. Upgraded to an executive suite on the 16th floor. The suite had an excellent view of Victoria Harbour. It was spacious comfortable and serviced twice daily. The staff throughout the hotel are well trained and friendly. Pay the extra foe club level, afternoon tea is an absolute delight. Happy hour from 6 to 8pm consists of champagne,a selection of fine wines and beers with a variety of excellent finger food. Breakfast is buffet or a la carte. The service provided by club staff was impeccable. The hotel is close to transport and there is a department store nearby. I have stayed in several hotels in Hong Kong and this is now my only choice.

Room Tip: Choose a harbour view room and club access

From the 1st moment the experience was wonderful, the staff did everything to make our visit special. The views are spectacular, and the room was spacious and very well appointed. The pool is lovely, but there is currently construction in front of the pool area which makes the experience less relaxing. The breakfast buffet was perhaps one of the best we have had. It is a wonderful hotel.
