“Best to ask subscribe to their limousine service to meet you”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Especially if you have had a long trip. Very efficient service and just so wonderful to be able to relax while being whisked to the hotel. At the hotel, we were met at the door by name, and taken to our room for all the check-in paperwork.
Another thing, if you are paying this kind of price, spend a little more for a room with an incomparable view.
If, like me, you do not like buffets - you can have a wonderful breakfast by the pool. It is very quiet, and the service is impeccable.

“Pricey, but no better place to stay in HK”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Pros: Good size rooms for HK, well located, great view, professional and dilligent staff
Cons: Not all rooms will have the best views, there's construction work going on right next to the pools at present, everything's very expensive

Hong Kong is wonderful in October/November and this is the perfect location for a first visit. Yes it's expensive, but it rewards with large rooms (by HK standards) and the view is excellent. The hotel is 10 minutes on foot from the Star Ferry to cross the water, 25 minutes on foot to the ferry terminal to Macau and elsewhere, or 5 minutes from East Tsim Sha Tsui tube station - the hub to get pretty much anywhere you may need to.
As much as there's plenty to explore nearby, it's nice to spend a bit of time chilling in and around the property too: Sitting in the jacuzzi overlooking the east portion of the island skyline (the main part is obstructed by the hotel itself) with a cocktail was totally worth it. It's open until 10pm, so whether a sunset relax or a proper night time chill out, it's exactly what can't be done over in the UK or many other Western countries at this time of year... or ever, really.
It's not 100 per cent without issue though: the building site next to the hotel fires up at 8am and the machines are loud enough to rumble the windows; it's that unpleasant frequency that resonates. We put up with it for a day (there was no work at the weekend), then a random 3am party in the room opposite was the last straw - straight on the phone to the staff and they came up straight away to investigate. We were given a new room to sleep in that night and then offered a new room in a different location from the day after. The staff dealt with packing up and moving our things. As much as that sleep interference was a nuisance, the way it was dealt with makes it forgivable - the staff here seem to really care.
It's pricey though when considering the HK exchange rate. Expect to pay around £8 for a bottle of beer, or £12 for a cocktail. An hour massage was about £85, which was as expected somewhere like here. The rooms are, obviously, considerably more again for the night... but it felt worth it for the luxury.
There are few (arguably no) better places to stay, and as this Intercontinental is on the Kowloon side it's away from the claustrophobic mayhem of the island yet close enough to get there in minutes. Definitely worth a pop, even if just for a long weekend at the end of a longer trip. I'd happily stay again.

Room Tip: Avoid the side, particularly the corner next to the pool - when the machines on the next door buildi...

“High end experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

This is not an inexpensive hotel. It costs circa £380GBP for entry level, rooms plus 28GBP per person for breakfast. Having said that, from the moment you enter it is luxurious and full of style. Every part of this hotel is decorated to the highest and most comfortable standards, guest rooms and bathrooms are beautiful. An abundance of staff are available to open the lobby doors for you, deal with any issues you have or serve you amidst its opulent surroundings. It has a number of restaurants inside, 2 of which have Michelin stars, all of which charge accordingly. In the terrace restaurant 2 burgers, a bottle of wine and sparkling water will set you back about £100GBP. The buffet lunch is about £45GBP per head plus drinks. 15% service charge goes on top of meal and drinks purchases.
It comes as no surprise to see the car park full of Ferraris, Masseratis, Bentleys and Aston Martins. This was a very high end experience and indeed a special, but expensive, treat.
The hotel is in a great position to see the nightly light show in Victoria harbour, in fact you can sit in the lobby lounge and have a perfect view this nightly event if you have nothing better to do. It is also well located for the ferry, the Ocean view shopping mall and the Big Bus company drop off and pick up points. However if I was going back to Hong Kong I would stay on the Hong Kong Island side as I think there is a lot more going on over there. Kowloon side seems lack on the entertainment side of things.
I would highly recommend this Hotel for a first class experience, it delivers on all fronts, at a cost.

Room Tip: If you can afford to go for a harbour view room you wont be dissapointed with the view.

“PERFECT LOCATION & VIEW”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

We spent our honeymoon at Intercontinental Hong Kong in Kowloon, we were upgraded to an executive suite with large windows facing the Hong Kong Island and harbour.
This suite was incredible. We also were granted some amenities and champaign for our Honey moon. We delighted the "in room dining", our room became a private restaurant with illuminated Hong Kong at our feets. With delicious and not so expensive food.
The swimming pool and the 3 jacuzzis facing the hong kong skyline are amazing. Ongoing works are not disturbing us at all. Staff is gentle. Breakfast buffet is the largest and most diverse I ever saw: so many meals and world food !!!! with a table facing Hong kong skyline !

The price I got through their own site was very competitive. You have to check regularly on the website because the prices are changing. Best is to book 2 weeks in advance with advance payment.

We really had a great experience at this hotel. Unforgettable !!!!

Room Tip: Take a harbour side room, and take care: you have some with harbour view on causeway bay and others...

“one of the world's best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

i have stayed at this otel several times over the years..
the service is impeccable, the views breathtaking, breakfast is luxurious, views of HK spectacular, and it houses one of the best restaurants (IMHO) in Nobu.
The rooms, especially on the harbor side, are wonderful...spacious, high ceilings, great views, good beds - a complete package...
I ordered room service on one trip for 730 am arrival....on the forst day, at 7:29, there was a knock at the door....I thought 'coincidence...' ......so the second day, I ordered room service again......and again I heard a knock at 7:29......I have been stood up for room service at some of the best (15 mins late at Bellagio) - so this made an exceptional impression....
I have dipped in the hot tub overlooking hong kong harbor andfound it exhilirating.....
The place across the street gets much of the notoriety in Kowloon....but this place deserves a very high spot - equal if not better

Room Tip: if you can afford it, get a harbor side room (it's more $$)
