“Old world charm with impeccable service and facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

From the moment we arrived at this charming hotel, our every need was anticipated. Maintaining the "old british" traditions, we were overwhelmed at the level of service and professionalism while maintaining a courteous and helpful demeanour. This hotel is so well located, just a short 5 minute walk from the Harbour Front shopping complex with all the exclusive shops. It was great to browse in these shops within the complex but was also easy to find other more affordable shops for purchases in the outside general area.
We were to stay 2 nights, but were quick to realise that we needed a 3rd night, just to soak up the ambience of the hotel and Hong Kong itself.
Rooms are beautifully appointed, quiet and with innovative and luxurious facilities, including a very comfortable king size bed. Our every need was met with eager anticipation. Breakfast was an occasion and you could choose from an amazing array of european and asian dishes. Freshly made smoothies, made to order eggs, cereals, fruit, breads, pastries, etc etc. Lots of staff on duty at all times, and wonderful service. The lobby cocktail bar was a relaxing place to unwind after a busy day with a pianist and solo singer crooning in the background. More expensive than many other hotel chains, but so worth it. Am already planning a return trip!

For the past 3 years I have stayed at the Langham whenever I visit Hong Kong on Business. I feel that it is the best value for luxury hotels in either Kawloon or Hong Kong Island, although the prices have been going up which may require me to look for a new home. The rooms are a little small, but very well appointed and always spotless. The Fitness Center is great. At the end of a long trip, the New York style Delicatessen on the lower level is a nice, casual change from either Chinese food or expensive western style restaurants. The Staff is also very good.

This is a great hotel - it was very clean and spacious, has a great rooftop pool and spa - there is a sauna, steam room and hot tub in each of the men and women's changing rooms which is lovely and relaxing after a swim, and which you don't have to pay for. Couldn't comment on the quality of the spa as we didn't use it.

The hotel is not too far from the airport - about 45 mins altogether. It is easy to get to, simply get on the airport express train to Mongkok (it's around £15 return each) and get a taxi from the station. Taxis are so cheap in HK and are metered, so price isn't really a problem. It cost around £3-4 to get from the train station to the hotel.

The hotel itself is attached to a big shopping mall where there is shopping and lots of restaurants at much cheaper prices than the hotel. It's well worth a look if you don't want to pay hotel prices. That said the food in the hotel isn't bad - we ordered room service and although my food was ok, my husband's was cold and well below standard for the price tag of £15 they were attaching to it. That said, breakfast was fantastic - lots of choice and very fresh - couldn't fault it at all.

If you want to see more of the city, I would suggest the Big Bus Tour - you can get tickets from the hotel reception (around £20 each), but it includes the tour (there are 2/3 different lines that will take you all around the city), it also includes entrance to the Tram that goes up the mountain, a boat ride out to the floating restaurant and access to the ferry - when you take into a/c the added extras, it's a bargain. However HK is a very congested city and the buses are often late and get held up in traffic, so beware!

There are some great night markets and shops around the hotel, which means that you are not stuck inside the hotel and there is always something to do.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel - even better if you can get a deal with breakfast included, and we would definitely stay here again if we visited HK.

The Langham Hotel was very pricy but location wise it was great! We were right in the heart of Peking road where all the great designer stores and food places are located. It was nice to see the packe streets ful of locals and tourists all around! Gives you a NYC vibe!! The ferry ride is nearby... like 5-6 mins away and we saw the gorgeous HK skyline just minutes walk away from the hotel. But the rooms are a bit small but the beautiful lobby is amazing! For a couple the room is ok but if you have kids you need to get a second room which can become too expensive. If you have the cash go for the Langham!

To get to the Langham (not to be mixed up with the Langham Place) from Hong Kong International Airport you can take the Airport Express train to Kowloon station and a free shuttle bus will take you to the hotel. I stayed at this property two separate times during my trip to Asia. The first night i stayed there I was upgraded to a Grand room which was wonderful. For Hong Kong standards the room was a good size, the turnover service was complete before the time I had checked in. I like the chocolates they left on the bed. The Grand room has a bigger bathroom than the Deluxe room and has a door that opens to look into the room or the TV which was cool. If you are hungry late night there is a McDonalds accross the street that is open 24/7 but you have to go underground to cross the street. The bed was very comfortable and they were able to give me a late check out.

For the second stay i was put in a Deluxe room. The room was ok but needed some work done to it. I'm not sure if it was just the room I was in that needed work but there were some exposed wire behind the worek desk which was a bit concerning and there were not many power outlets available like the grand room. Besides that, the room was nice. I didn't get a chance to check out the other facilities in this hotel since I arrived late at night and just needed a place to sleep. If I stay at this hotel I will try to get the Grand room instead of the Deluxe room.

We stayed at the Grand Langham room which was very well furnished, nice bathroom and even had it's own iPod dock system. Hotel enjoys a very strategic location, and luxury boutiques in 1881 Heritage and Harbour City shopping is only 5 minutes walk away.
My son was initially grumpy upon arrival to HK since we did not advise him of our traveling plans until 6am prior to leaving for the airport but upon checking in the hotel, there were no more complaints as it was just so comfortable and he didn't want to leave! Understand that the Chinese restaurant is good too although we didn't have a chance to try.

Those looking for affordable luxurious rooms with very spacious bathroom without breaking
the bank should really consider this this hotel. When we tried booking again in November hotel was fully booked, so to avoid disappointment, book early since Langham is a popular choice.

Room Tip: book early to avoid disappointment
