“Perfect Location, Million Dollar View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2009

I stayed here for one night with family. It's in a perfect location between the busy shopping of Causeway bay and Victoria Park. Offering a little of everything to everyone. It's also close to a subway station so you can quickly go from the hotel to the rest of Hong Kong with relative ease.

I have stayed in the Park Lane Hotel in Hong Kong many times, on both business and pleasure. It is an excellent hotel located in the Causeway Bay area of Hong Kong. The hotel itself is quite modern, very efficiently run, and with a great staff. They are all very friendly and helpful, with a strong knowledge of Hong Kong...tourism activities, shopping, etc. Resturants in the Park Lane serve both Western and Chjnese food. They are a real treat. Also, the pub, George's, is a gathering spot for Hong Kong people, and for hotel guests and others (especially during the annual rugby tournament). The Park Lane is beside the Victoria Park, a great place for early morning exercise--walking, running, tai chi. Also, it is close to the MTR (the subway system) so it is convenient to Central and other districts of Hong Kong. Rates are very competitive and I consider the Park Lane to be one of the best values in Hong Kong. It has been the base hotel for my family for 5 or 6 years.

The Park Lane is a great base for the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Tournament. It is within walking distance of the pitch. The staff does a wonderful job making rugby guests welcome.

I usually travel to HK 3 - 4 times a year on business and stay here, so when we wanted along weekend in HK, I got my office here to get me the corporate rate, which meant pretty reasonable value by HK standards.

The hotel is a little long in the tooth, but the rooms are a good size, decent bathroom, OK amenities (no conditioner as someone else has noted but there's a million 7-11s, Watsons etc within spitting distance), and a fairly comfy bed. We had a view over the park which was OK, but as the visibility was poor all weekend we didn't miss much.

Taxis are easy to get from outside the hotel, although to be fair I have been there on a business trip and at 0830 there's a bit of queue. The MTR is about 5 mins away and at HKD55 the day pass is well worth it, and it's reasonably easy to get around.

Breakfast is fine, Western and Asian with enough choices for almost anyone, and it has proper bacon, not the frazzled cardboard rubbish that most places in Asia seem to think is "bacon", while the bar is good if a bit smoky.

Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone.

I have been to Hong kong many times and when I could take my wife, we picked a five night stay at the Park lane. my wife was blown away by Hong kong, and the Park lane. the rooms in the hotel are large and comfortable. the bathrooms great, with large bath, and all the extras you expect. beds are large and comfortable, with huge pillows. also the park views are great watch all the goings on in the park, in which you could easily spent a day in.
staff in the hotel bend over backwards to help in anyway.and you are looked after superbly. the bar on the ground floor sells great food as well as drinks, and staff are great. the cafe next floor up is fantastic, serving great food at great value. [ all you can eat lunch special, try the pea rice yum ] and of course A.1. service. the panoramic restaurant is to die for, view, food, service, and live music. you must try their "death by chocolate". Three lots of entertainers grace the Park lane, all three are more than good, x factor candidates.
To sum up .Cleaning staff look after you and, your room, to the highest of standards. I took my wife, mother in law, brother and sister in law, back the next year. guess what? they were blown away too.
you cannot pick a better hotel, or location, in Hong kong. give it a go
tips:- all night supermarket, just outside hotel. Happy valley racecourse night tour, excellent value. see the big buddha. the hotel do fantastic chocolates to take away.

Great hotel in great location, would stay here again if i ever go back to HK. Staff friendly and very helpful, rooms spacious and clean, views over the park and towards Kowloon lovely. Can't really find anything negative to say about this hotel.

My parents and I stayed in two connecting rooms for 5 nights and sadly, both were dirty. Stains on the carpet were visible, bathrooms had dim lights... the rooms just reeked of dirt. For the germo-phobes like me, don't even think of walking around your room without slippers as the carpets reeked of germs. It was utterly disgusting. We also booked rooms on a NON-SMOKING floor but we were placed on a SMOKING FLOOR. Que horror! We requested for an upgrade, but apparently the hotel was overbooked. Hmph. And oh, the hallways and the lobby looked cheap by the way.

With the rate of the hotel, we expected clean and sophisticated rooms and better service from the staff. Well what can I say... the hotel was disappointing! We usually stay at the Excelsior or the Pen, so I really don't know why we decided to book rooms here last Decemeber. Tsk tsk tsk. We should have booked rooms somewhere else! Definitely not coming back here!!!

Okay on a positive note, what we liked about the hotel is its location. It's situated at the heart of Causeway Bay! We also get 2 big bottles of mineral/distilled water daily and we even request for more sometimes. The beds were also A-OK.

Just returned from a 7 night stay and found the hotel to be very well maintained and comfortable. Complementary water every day in room, adequate complementary toiletries. I would however have expected to find toilets in the lobby for guests, if the bar wasn't open you had to go to the 1st floor and find them next to HMV! Our only other regret was that there was no outside sitting space to enjoy the views over Victoria Park and the Harbour, and like another reviewer we missed a pool, especially as we had really good weather and would have enjoyed a few hours r&r around a pool. Other than that we found the staff to be friendly and very efficient, and always able to help with any questions.

Hong Kong in general - In our opinion I have to say we found HK to be quite expensive, perhaps this was in part due to the £/HK$ exchange rate, approx £1 / 10.5 HK$ on average a pint of beer was 52HK$ and a glass of wine similar. Always try to ensure you follow the happy hours around if you enjoy a drink. Likewise we found food to be on the expensive side as well, even the local chinese restaurants in our area (Causeway Bay) worked out dearer than here in the UK for less food. However, beer at Happy Valley in the beer garden on race nights (wednesdays) was around 30 HK$ a pint, and entrance to the races was only 10HK$, if you get the chance go along the atmosphere is wonderful and you can get there and back on the Tram for 2HK$ each, each way...what a steal!.

We found the Oyster card to be a fantastic buy and so easy to use on all forms of public transport. (except taxi's) What a brilliant efficient and clean public transport system HK has. You can use the oyster card in the 7/11 and other participating shops - what a great invention.
If you get the chance to go to HK do try to use the public transport, the bus journey to Stanley Bay from Central (bus no 6) was a great experience and do try to get on the upper deck, the views are sensational, I think the journey costs approx 12HK$ for a 40 minute journey and the buses are frequent, punctual and clean. By using the public transport system we think you can go to see all the places that tour operators are offering at a fraction of the price and you are your own boss.

Overall we loved HK and the Park Lane and should we be lucky enough to return would probably stay again due to its location.
